....if can we win our home games and avoid losing our away games. This will give us a total of 89+ points, surely enough for automatic promotion.

Agreed. I'd be surprised if it takes 90+ points to finish in the top 2. At the very least, 90 points will secure 3rd place. Basically only West Ham and Reading would be capable of finishing ahead of us were we to hit 90 points - but even with them, I really can't see them both doing it. I mean, Reading would have to pick up 31 points out of remaining 39. That would take some doing.

I still think 85 points will be what does it, but we should be aiming for 87 or 88 points.

I think we will win all but Reading home games comfortably. The away games however will be tricky. Boro, Hull and Blackpool will all be difficult. Millwall we can win, P'Boro, Palace winnable but a draw wouldn't be end of the world. I have worked it out as 88 points. Think that will be enough... i hope.

Tomorrow will go some way to helping that out. Now, do we want Cardiff to win against WHU, or the teams to draw and waste the 3rd point..? Almost always, with two competing teams vying for promotion, I want a draw. But with Cardiff back in 8th on 53 points, I think I prefer a Welsh win.

Don't think Cardiff can threaten the auto spots anymore, so definitely cheering them on tomorrow. If the hammers lose I think we'll begin to see the finishing line in sight <ok>

Definitely want a Cardiff win, however can only seen one winner tomorrow. I just feel that Birmingham and Cardiff just have too many games to be in the autos.

After looking at the other contenders remaining fixtures i didn't realize that they all have to play each other. Reading Still have to play Us, West ham and Brum. West Ham still have to play Cardiff, Boro, Reading and Brum. We definately have the better games.

Again, a draw would be preferable, but for sure if I had to cheer one of the onto victory, then it would be Cardiff. West Ham are quite clearly a bigger threat at present than Cardiff. It would also be interesting to see how West Ham subsequently react to losing, as they'd have taken just one point from a possible six, and have Reading right bang on their heels (although looking at their two home games later in the week, you'd expect West Ham to bounce back very well should they slip tomorrow - Watford and Doncaster!)

I must say that a few weeks back, I began to think you might fall away but you seem to have come back stronger than ever.

You are 4 points above us having played 2 games more so it is incredibly close at the top and i think it is going to the wire IMO.

I think we will take the 4 points needed from our games in hand to draw level at the top and from then on the title could go either way.

one thing I am quite sure of though, is that the top 2 will be u and us. In what order who knows. I would be chuffed with second though as im sure you would.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

I think the pressure is on West Ham at the moment. Reading are on such good form. I hope that the top two at the end of the Season are The Saints and Royals. How fitting that would be.

I think that's a fair summary. You'll forgive me if I don't wish you the best of luck against Cardiff. Thereafter, let the best team win. :D

Thanks for the good luck remarks, long way to go yet and Reading would probably disagree with your prognosis, our game Tuesday will probably be more difficult to win that lots of others, we will see.

It is a funny old league though. I never thought Watford would recover from 2-0 down today or that Derby would score two at Brum. I think West Ham will win tomorrow but you never know.

A Cardiff win would still leave them 9 points behind us, so surely we would rather they won, especially as West Ham have a tough run in.

Fair enough Bud. Even though there seems to be a massive amount of dislike towards us on your forum, I always thought of Saints as one of the few clubs other than my own that i like so I really do hope that we go up along with you.

    Its gonna be interesting.

We really should be looking to confirm promotion to the PL. Just need to win most of our home games, perhaps with a draw in there somewhere, win a couple of away games and badda bing, badda boom, we'll finish in the top two.

Can we keep focused and maintain form.... I ****ing hope so!
