Top 10 westerns of all time 10th Rio bravo no doubt in my top ten, 9th Butch cassidy ?, top of course is The good, the bad, and the ugly exellent choice, 2nd once upon a time in the west (superb) 3rd Django unchained (not in a country mile) my choice the magnificent 7, also in there was the treasure of the sierra madre great film but not a western( like bad day at black rock) an unbelievable film. Where was Shane ? Unforgiven was in there of course and rightly, but what about 'the wild bunch' another brilliant film did not make the top 10, the man who shot Liberty valance in there too, great film this is a big topic not as big as all time epics such as Ben hur etc, but we all have our favourites. I have most of these on blu ray as well.

I love westerns, always have, its mainly the settings, the small clapboard townships, rail roads, stage coaches, covered wagons, and the scenery are often spectacular, but I do wish those Indians could learn how to fight. <laugh>
Story lines, Outlaw Josey Wales and Once upon a Time in the West are probably my favourites, but its a hard choice.

Just a reminder, in case it was merely forgotten, of -The Big Country.

Steller cast, brilliantly performed.
Hard to imagine that Burl Ives villain was the same person famous for 'The Ugly Bugs Ball' and 'Frogie went a-courting'.

I've seen that, the one with John C Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix isn't it? I'd say if you like that you'd probably be into Bone Tomahawk, cut from similar cloth.

That's the one.

Looks like i'll need to use a VPN for netflix to watch Bone Tomahawk as it's not available in Aus.

Pain in the arse isn't it the regional exclusions. Doesn't seem to make much sense, sometimes things made entirely in England are only available in America. I dunno.

3.10 to Yuma both versions deserve a mention, trains in westerns are double whammy, on a lighter side I had an uncle, long departed, who used to sit watching his early TV set in cowboy outfit, with a pair of holstered six-guns at the ready, and a shot or two of his favourite red eye. And before you jump to conclusions I will also add he was no idiot just a tad eccentric. <laugh>
