Aye 30 years of 'Keeping the peace' against only one community. Those of English and Unionist persuasion like to play down the Scots as masters of their own destiny, as if the people of Scotland were backwards to the point where they needed the population of England to stop them doing horrible, stupid and economically backwards. I think you will be surprised how well a confident and independent Scottish people can perform vs the financial black hole of London. When it's cheaper to be HQed in a highly educated, English speaking, low tax, Edinburgh or Glasgow I think you will see the south of the UK leaking quite a lot of jobs. That's what the Tories are afraid of - they are not keeping the UK together for all the Scottish Conservative supporters anyway.
