Well as you know I'm a MON fan so bare that in mind before you lambast me. I have stayed off the forum whilst we are playing so badly, as it was hard to put a positive spin on our way of playing. (Plus I couldn't be arsed to trawl through Chieks usual dross to read fellow SAFC supporters opinions.) We have some damn fine players right now, the best over all team I have seen for a long time. BUT! I'm sorry Martin your tactics are all wrong. You're setting up not to lose games instead of win them. Once again your substitutions left me bewildered. You leave Larsson on and take Sess off? Why? We needed attacking options. Larsson's overall play was once again ****e, he is very slow to make a decision and with the ball when in possesion, and was once again being bypassed defensively at will by Villa wherever he was. (Prompt for a Seb supporter to point out his cross for Saha! Yeah he deserves his place just for that one incident!) On numerous occasions he could have laid off the ball for a fast break away and his dithering allowed Villa to reorganise. Or worse still went backward. (HE should watch the match back and watch how effective Catts was.) Sess was making things happen, and wasn't getting much help from elsewhere. (It's as if you're expecting him to do everthing all by himself and if he doesn't you sub him.) Give him a chance in a more attacking formation. His control of the ball could have been the difference in those last few frantic minutes. You took off Bardsley who was having a good game definsively and offensively. As was proved at the end we are more than capable of attacking and Saha made a huge difference. I honestly think if we had Saha and Fletcher up front from the start we would have pissed that game easily. Fletcher didn't have the best of games his control let him down a few times, whilst on his own. Johnson is now finding his feet and is starting to look like the player we know he can be. Played a couple of really nice one twos with Sess. (Finally someone on the same wave length as Sess? We can but hope. I can definitelly see those two coming good together.) Bentenke was very good for Villa but our defence was holding. (You can see why he is preferred to Bent.) Anyone want to explain why Ming just stood and watched for Aglonthebores goal? The defender tried to get across to block yet Ming just stood still. Still not convinced. Bardsley one foul and a booking. Lichaj 7 or 8 fouls and only gets booked for kicking the ball away. Ireland terrible tackle on Cattermole not even a card, both feet off the ground. (Wonder what would have happened if it had been the other way around.) If Catts had rolled about screaming like Tiote does, Ireland would have been off. But Catts being a man, he just got up and got on with the game. Catts was head and shoulders man of the match. His ball control and passing was immaculate. His detractors would have a hard time making something up to have a go at him for that game, like they do other games. Where he actually makes one mistake and is then a crap footballer. He was always looking to break forward and if some of the others had shown his grit and determination it could have been a much different result. The rest of the team should check out his passing and movement, making himself available for a return pass if needed. It's ****ing basics why can't the rest of them do it? So Martin watch that back and consider the last few minutes, we are more than capable of doing that from the start. Lets have two up top and Sess in behind, he has more chance of a defence splitting pass if he has two to aim for. I still think you are one of the best managers in the prem, but, you are going to have to step up your game, or you are going to lose the crowd. For the first time in 50 years of support I can see a real chance of SAFC actually moving forward. You are one of the best man managers in the game, lets instil some belief in the players and be more attack minded from the off. After all it can't be any worse than what we are having to endure right now. Yes some players have been under performing but the tactics clearly need tweaking.
Ok post, fletcher and whickham to start especially the way we target fletch, apart from that pretty much agreed unless i'm picking bones
Yeah bonny lad like you would call me a liar to my face! Wouldn't give you the pleasure of putting you on ignore, you sad ****. You have no life off this board. I actually feel sorry for you. Your whole meaning to life is being on another teams board to be a troll 24/7. If you think that is the way forward for yourself in life, more power to your sad elbow. May I humbly suggest you try leaving your parents house and seeing what life is like in the real world. You may even meet a girl. (Or more likely in your case a boy. 5-1 the arse bandit has returned I see, so you two would be a perfect fit. ) Never has my signature about you been more apt. The only person who wants to ruin threads on the SAFC board is your good self. Get a life sad **** before it is too late.
Daft thing is mate, I actually don't think we played too badly over the whole match. Especially compared to previous games. I just want us to have more gumption going forward. We have the players to do it, now is the time to start doing it from the kickoff. The only one who can force that issue is the manager.
Meltdown. Not surprising really, worst team to watch by a long way, plays awful football, least shots on target by a long way(in top 5 leagues in Europe), list goes on. Also Bardsley definitely deserved a yellow, no matter how many fouls he had made.
Where is the meltdown numbnuts? I didn't say Bardsley's foul wasn't a yellow, I was pointing out the numerous fouls by Villa that went unpunished.
