Say what you want about his style of football but Sam Alladyce is one of the most successful managers in the country in terms in win/loss record. If West Ham want to get back on their feet and back in the Premier League in quick time then Sam's the man to do it but given the less than gentlemanly behavour exhibited by Sullivan, Gold and Brady last season in undermining the manager then I doubt West Ham will be a very secure position for anyone in the near future.
Its Alvin Marvin's comments that makes me laugh. He clearly doesn't pay attention to football. Parker has no time for Fat Sam as the first thing Sam done at Newcastle was get rid of Scott.
First relegation and now Allardyce? I will miss going to WHU for a while Enjoy the pretty birds in the sky, the gun shots flying overhead and the gangs stabbing each other on the roof of that housing block which overlooks the ground, it's where the game will be played anyway.
I'm afraid he doesn't...Even Pardew has a higher win%! I can only echo the other lads sentiments and not just 'cause of the football. Winning football is winning football (even ugly 1:0s leave you feeling happier than a loss) but what I hated most about Allardyce, was his refusal to accept any blame for tactical mistakes, an almost tourrettes like desire to blame the players and a ridiculously arrogant attitude of 'if things don't go right, its anyone (and I mean anyone) else's fault!' Sorry lads. I feel for you!
I have always liked West Ham ever since the 70s and though they have never been 'my team' I have always had respect for them and their fans. I just think that this appointment is an insult to the great Hammers fans - the football is going to be ugly and as JwaG points out the excuses after each match are going to be embarrassing and painful. Still, I do hope that you rebound back into the Premiership where you belong. All the best for the next season.
This is a totally stupid appointment - West Ham fans are NEVER going to accept the anti-football that Fat Sam will bring. He may well get them out of the Championship if he can keep the players they currently have, but if there is a mass exodus then the Hammers are ****ed. Sad days for the club - not helped by the idiots they have in charge there at EVERY level now...
Nobody here clearly watched Allardyce's Blackburn. Direct but attractive football, bringing through youngsters and achieving all objectives set. West Ham are going up next season, and Allardyce has even promised to stick to the clubs traditional style. Holloway changed with great success, now it's Big Sam's turn. I'm a Cardiff fan, and I like West Ham so I am pleased they picked a good manager...but sad in that this one promotion spot now taken already
you having a ****ing laugh mate west ham fans are like us they like the game played the way it should be with passion, flair and attractive attacking football well unfortunately you can wave that goodbye
horrible w*nker of a manager, horrible set of w*nker fans... match made in heaven. Wesdam... staaarrrnd your graaaaaand and fight.... ha ha, will not be missed in the PL.
I guess no one remembers Sam Allardyce's Bolton and only remembers Sammy Lee's. Big Sams Bolton had players like Okocha, Campo, Djorkaeff in it and played some great football, qualifying for Europe on the way. Newcastle needed sorting out, and Blackburn were doing OK. At the end of the day you can only play attractive football if the players you have can, and neither Newcastle or Blackburn had many. As to Scott Parker and Newcastle, I think you'll find he wanted to return 'home' to London.
fat sam was asked would he be interested in managing united and signed up before reading the small print. A championship manager has finally found his true level.
If Newcastle had kept him, you would be a top six club by now. They might not get exactly that but did they get that under Pardew? Curbishley? Zola? Grant? They'll get promotion under Big Sam and that is the main thing for West Ham right now with their debt and the lookimg Olympic Stadium move.
