The limit of Arsenal's Premier League aspirations may be debateable in the wake of their defeat by Manchester City but goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has only one target in mind this season: to finish above Tottenham. Injured Gunner Jack Wilshere and Spurs forward Jermain Defoe have already placed a wager on the outcome, with the proceeds going to charity, but that was before City edged past Arsene Wenger's side at Etihad Stadium courtesy of David Silva's second-half effort. Tottenham's success by the same score against Sunderland left Harry Redknapp's team five points ahead over the Gunners in third place and with the added cushion of a game in hand. Enthusiasm to exacerbate the rivalry may have been tempered by defeat but Szczesny took pride from Arsenal's spirited performance that could have earned them a point had marginal moments gone in their favour. "Getting above Tottenham is the main target," said Szczesny. "We don't want to finish below them no matter what. "That's just my personal ambition because I am one of the fans and so it means a lot to me to finish above them. I am confident we will do so. "They will slip up eventually. They have been in good form - you have to give it to them - but I am confident we are a better side and will finish above them. Time will tell if they can handle the pressure but they look good at the moment. Hopefully they will drop points in the second half of the season." It seems that Spurs are starting to worry the gooners
He seems really certain we'll slip up... Any chance I can get one of his crystal balls? This time of year I could really do with knowing the lottery numbers!
Can someone tell him and Troll Wilshere to get a life...they're obsessed! , how many of our players have come out with petty **** like this.
I think it's nerves getting the better of them. They feel the need to act up to the press/ social media to make it look like they're in control and aren't worrying.
Last season Defoe said we'd get further than Arsenal in the Champions League. Well atleast our players were right!
would someone send him a signed photo of our Super Spurs team. a picture of Bill Nick wouldn't go amiss!
So, already the desperation has begun to set in among the Gooner players Their goalie is so certain that we will slip up. Well, we didn't show much sign of doing that when we demolished them at the Library. Also, has the idiot forgotten that it's Arsenal who bottle it, in the last quarter of the season, not us? Forever in our shadow (from now on)
I have no problem with players, or anybody talking facts, its the pie in the sky drivel that gets me!
Is he just being a bit too honest or is he trying to play mind games? Seems like a bit of a stupid thing to say all round, really.
Desperation can make a man say all kinds of silly things. Remember the first time you had sex? Case closed.
Pretty stupid thing to say. I know it's not going to happen, but if we finished bottom of the Prem, that presumably means that this idiot would be happy to be second from bottom
