Has anyone else heard anything about Mittal selling his shares? Seen talk on QPRnet.com and on David M's twitter page. http://www.qprnet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10211 http://twitter.com/#!/search/davidmcintyre76 I know it's just a rumor, but it's one that's got my bum hole contracting. I'm not posting this as fact, but I thought the more people who know about this the more chance there is of finding something out.
i certainly hope its not true anyway.. we know he's not goin to spend millions on one player, but wat he will do is keep pumping in enough money to eventually see us an established premership club, and hopefully a established european club in a few years time.
He has stated in the past few weeks through Amit Bhatia that his stock is definitely not up for sale. This was also reiterated by Ecclestone when he made it public that someone wanted to buy him out. So I doubt it's true. But then he might want the club to go in a different direction than Bernie and has decided to pull out due to their differences? I hope not anyway. Mittals connection to the club is the only thing that's kept most of us sane in the last few years, it will be a bad day if he has pulled out.
I'd put aside my worried beads, done cold turkey on the sedation and now this! We really can't go through all this he said this and they did that again so soon after the previous episode with the FA. I'm seriously considering hibernating for the summer and only coming out when the starting whistle is blown for the first PL fixture because I really can't take anymore of this. AAARRGGHHH!
Sounds like a load of crap to me - as the link says, the FT (a far more reliable source than most that around) think the Mittals are looking to increase their stake. God, I hope that's the case, any way.
How typical of QPR is this? Not only couldn't we really celebrate getting promoted properly until the very last minute, we now are, according to the press, imploding. They claim we are dumping the manager that got us promoted, selling the top scorer and most exciting player and losing our top investors. Only at QPR. Who would want to support anyone else?
Apart from Warnock who remains independently pro the team and fans, the only stable QPR man with any influence and real enthusiasm is young Amit Bhatia. I know he'll be fighting tooth and nail to hold this thing together - and for all the right reasons. Believe me Prince Amit is our rock. Watch this space.
To play devils advocate: we all like to think that the Mittal's are having a very positive impact on the club but the evidence is actually minimal. Despite earlier rumours that they had taken control they continue to only have a minority shareholding. That means the much needed stablity we have seen over the past year was done while Ecclestone (and earlier Briatori) still had the majority stake. It's pretty clear that they could have bought up the club lock stock and barrel if they really wanted to but have not which does not indicate the kind of enthusiasm we all hope for. Also, despite some very shrewd purchases by Warnock and a well organized campaign, the investment in the playing side was not really that significant in the last year and all the signs are that they have no intention of splashing out in the Prem either. So, what do we actually lose if they walk away now? Unless they are going to act as benefactors rather than business execs one set of investors is much the same as another.
Well reasoned, but he does seem to be the only stable influence at the club. Bernie would appear to want out, and Flavio is Flavio. Like Paladini, his mouth is ahead of his brain, he will always effortlessly cause trouble, however unintentional it maybe. Mittal never appears to put a foot wrong, and has stated (or his people have) support for Neil Warnock. Mittal is covering the self-destruct button, long may he remain.
