What is it about BCFC that makes us such a nothing team that seems to go from one bad game to another without barely a squeak? Yet again we follow up what was supposed to be a confidence booster and a corner turner to turn any positivity in to a poor performance.

How on earth the veritable BBC Bristol commentators saw some positives in last night's match is beyond my comprehension when we gave up 2 soft goals due to our usual defensive failings. May I remind them that we are in a very serious state and unless someone has the pride to step up and take control then we could be doomed to the drop, and I am beginning to wonder if anybody at the club really cares enough to address the situation.

Am I right in thinking that SL needed the salary overload addressed and reduced? I look at the incoming players who are adding to salary levels and question whether we have actually reduced our monthly outgoings. With all the stuff going on at Ashton Gate over the last 3-4 years with the new stadium, and the firing of managers who can't seem to get it right, I wonder if we will ever get it right.

So what do I expect, well for starters a team that can compete at this level and earn enough of our respect that we feel the need to go to the next game rather than stay away. A team that shows us that they are worthy of our support and that will show full commitment to the cause no matter what situation arises.

Are we, despite all the changes, a better team than last year? I can't see how anyone can answer yes to that question given our recent lack of form.

I want to ask the real Bristol City to show up but regrettably I think they already have.

Steve Lansdown needs to talk to the players and find out if McInnes has the support of the dressing room, because the same old faces seem to not give a ****. Our defense is a shambles and the fact that we never got anyone in still irritates me. The whole Anthony Gerrard situation shows that we don't want to spend the money that is required to stay in this division.

So I ask; do we deserve to be a Championship team?

I think the best thing Lansdown can do is to give his support to McInnes and let him punish any players that aren't pulling their weight. Then, to focus everything on getting the stadium sorted out. If we can secure our new stadium before relegation is confirmed I reckon it'll provide a lift to the club, the fans and the team.

Its a tough away game at a club who are 7 games unbeaten and pushing for promotion. They have good resources and a crowd of 20,000 who turn up on a Tuesday nightto support their team.

Do we as City fans deserve anything better when we can barely put half that number of fans in the stands on a Saturday. Its not the players who cant be bothered but the supporters - especially those that continue to moan.

For me, losing to Brighton was what I expected. They are a better team than us right now. I am sure we will be better on Saturday. Chin up lads.

I'm with you ender and although I sympathise with gg I do applaud his optimism. However when you complain about the poor attendances and the fact that Brighton was a tough away game as reasons why we are doing so poorly then I point to the fact that if we did have a decent competitive team then the 2 aforementioned problems may disappear.

The cold hard facts point to an organization that couldn't organize a piss-up in brewery, as has been shown in their lack of attention to the things that are so evident to the ever decreasing supporters in the seats. Like a lot of you I haven't got a clue how to solve these seemingly ongoing issues but I think the crime has been committed in the dressing room. Someone needs to go in there and tell them that Ashton Gate is not a retirement home for overpaid wannabe footballers - get it?

I suppose realisticly we have only ever flirted with the top end of the championship hav'nt we. We had "THE" season which ended at Wembley, then iirc, a "decent" season followed that, then a slow but sure decline in fortunes has followed that since.

Hand on heart time.....are we realy a good championship side?

With our (now) tatty old ground that we fill to 50 - 60%(ish) it makes me wonder if we are a small fish in a too big a pond and perhaps this is our level at this time.....a lower half team.

I have said it many times, but I look at a lot of clubs with new stadiums and think "What if...." Cardiff, BHA,Reading,Saints to name a few clubs of smilar size to us.

Perhaps after 40 odd years of watching City I am now in the "ah well, what will be will be" mode.........in other words, I give up, wer'e just Bristol City!

We rode our luck at Middlesbrough and had a few decisions go in our favour

Going to Brighton and getting anything was always a big ask, and I'm not in the slightest bit surprised by the result. When we were 2-0 down after 26 minutes I did wonder how many we'd ship though.

We have to get back to basics and start getting some home form together, because that's where the outcome of our fate this season will almost certainly lie

Hi Inveremeremike, I wrote this in a different article, which I believe where and how it's all gone wrong:

"I get so frustrated when i get a bee in my bonet especially when I see the club I support struggling AGAIN.
I know many felt that GJ had gone past his sell by date and maybe had lost SOME of the dressing room, but I still believe to this day that he would have avoided relegation the season he went and was ONE manager that should have been given a little more time.
I would not have had so much of a problem had we sacked him with an established manager to take over and progress.
Ok after Keef's reign of caretaker SL brought in Coppell and although I had a few doubts after listening to some of the Reading fans, I did think it was progressing in the right direction and that SL was serious..
But after Coppell walked out and SL decided to do the tax dodge, I believe it all went down hill. Bottled by SL whom went backwards by appointing Keef full time.

I and a few others had the gut feeling this was the biggest mistake since SL took over BC and the great progress that the club had made was going to be ruined. IMO, Nieve & going for the CHEAP option.
Hoping that SL would have learned by his mistakes, he again IMO, bottled it and opted for the cheap option, but even worse, into the unknown.
In my eyes, an economic gamble with someone that had NO experience what so ever at this level, someone that did ok in one of the worst leagues in Europe. I know that's strong, but this moment in time, it's in a complete mess, financially & IMO 10 years behind the Championship & Premiership in terms of football. OK, Celtic had a mini bit of luck in Euros, but so did Yate in the FA Cup.....it sometimes happens on the night. But it proves a point, when they lose at home to Inverness, who lie 2nd in the Micky Mouse Scottish Premier....what a joke!

Sorry, I don't dislike our manager, but I do believe that Del is a few years away from being a good manager at this level, but he will do nothing for us if we want to progress in the way SL & the rest of us wants.
Even if and that's a big IF, we manage to scrape out of being relegated, I still won't get excited, I can only see another struggle looming it's way for us again next season."

IMO, SL needs to grow some and quickly before we get to situation where it will be very difficullt to get out of.
And for those saying Brighton was always gonna be difficult, EVERY GAME IS difficult in this league......it's just ANOTHER EXCUSE to soften the blow.

The trouble with US is we expect too much, when we have achieved too little in our history. Like Caldicot (spit) says we had that one season when we reached beyond our dreams.. We are a small fish in this pond. We have had defensive issues now for many years. The Gerrard situation shows players don't want to come here in that position simply to be losing games and unfortunetely a defender is marked on how they defend. Not given a powder puff midfield that allows the opposition to breach the defence.
I for one even though I done the prediction a 1-0 win did not for one minute think we would keep a clean sheet let alone win, but that's just me go with my heart as far as City is concerened. I can not ever predict a loss or draw against us.
As Angelic said 0-2 down after 26 minutes I was fearing a drubbing but looking at it now from a positive we held on and kept it to just that.
Reading comments on OTIB some plaudits were saying we never played like a team to lose 0-2 and despite a early goal and one of the biggest cock ups the sky reporter has seen. We still held on when previously we would of fell apart.
Massive respect to Brighton to have a crowd that we can only dream about exspecially a mid week game 24k wow against a team at the bottom of the league.

We can win we proved it at the weekend, we just need someone to take control on the pitch. A real captain to marshal the players to lead by example. I'm not blaming Fontaine for this one but we still have not got a leader.

At present it seems that our only consistency is being poor. Boro may have been a blip on the radar that gave us some hope. Granted, BHA are doing well right now but as many have pointed out, every team in this league potentially is a tough game aned we have to get ourselves in the mix. Soft goals shows a fundamental flaw in the team when they happen with the regularity that we see them and Del's "positive" comments do nothing for our points tally. We're not drifting too far from safety right now but if this streak continues, we mat be in the mire again at Xmas and lkooking for yet another short term saviour. SORT IT OUT NOW FFS!!!!!

Mike - I find myseld close to your neck of the woods this week - snowy Calgary for a few days. I really miss Florida right now!!

That's why I spend the winters in Canaries Tampa! Enjoy the snow.

Back to onefor's comments which are spot on and it makes me wonder if SL has the courage of his commitment to finally get our show on the road. I am seriously starting to wonder where we go from here.

Speak for yourself mate as I have been involved in fans events around the EE and supporters club and due to the stinking attitude of people at the club have won't be involving myself in anymore. The club!!! could barely bring itself to honour one of its greatest players in Gerry Gow and if fans had not constantly kept at them they would not have bothered. The club has directors who think nothing of writing off fans efforts even if they involve thousands of pounds without even an apology.

Walk around BS3 and there is a barely a sight of BCFC and that is down to the lack of pride the directors have in BCFC. Not so long ago fans dropped that huge surfer [the one city say fans cannot use at the moment] off the Tobbacco factory and one of the pics was sent to the club. They didnt ask what it was about because they didnt even respond.

When mentioning low gates the club and fans should look at how hard BCFC work at getting the little things like pr right.

Wow Three Lions you really do have a major beef with the club's attitude to all things bright and beautiful when it comes to the supporters. You know what? I don't think you are far from the truth but how come the people that matter to this club can't see it for the trees?

    Isn't it called PRIDE.

City have some fantastic fans and there are people amongst them who have gone out of the way constantly over years for the club for free.

Have you also noticed when we go on a good run, its not actually that good, Its usually something like, lost once in 7 games but we drew 4 and won 2. Most good teams will win 6 and draw 1. Out "good form" is completely different to most teams.
