I watched the whole game today and apart from the first 15 minutes I thought we played well. Im not sure why TP briought Adam off (maybe through injury) and why he subbed Crouch for Jones but all in all I thought we definately deserved a point. Well played ads and hope to see more of the same in the near future.......... Yes we lost but atleats we had a right go at them and could have come away with 3 points on another day. Im very happy with the performace overall thought!!!.. UTPssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I thought KJ did well when he came on. He linked well with Ethers and did a similar job to Crouch. The stats from the game on the BBC website are encouraging: 49% possession, 13 shots, 6 on target. Against anyone else we might well have got a result.
Same here Ric we'll not get too many sides as good as Chelsea away from home. Well pleased overall. Well done everyone at SCFC and the fans who travelled.
Can't complain, with a bit more luck could have got at least a point, but the lads played well again and away from home!!
All sounds good, but let's not get carried away! I'm not being negative but these are not the games that will define our season. It's nice to say we played well away from home against a top side, but it will be the games against the bottom 10 that really count.
Smithers - we are the bottom 10, not negative, just being realistic. Pulis's sole ambition is survival and who is to say he is wrong? Certainly not PC and his is the only opinion thst matters.
Smithers, Although I agree with what you say my biggest bugbear was performance, which seems to be on the up. We do need to see how the team will be set up and played against teams around us, we have proved we can mostly defend against the big teams but can we consistently convert the chances we create against the less fancied opponents, both home and away. Looks like we will have to wait a while to find out, judging by our next 3 games. I think that the team has now developed to the stage we should have been at for our third season in the prem, ( maybe i'm jumping the gun) we have a workable defence and midfield, so TP's negativity has cost us 2 years but if we can now start to play the better football against all opponents, we may now be able to attract the players we have tried to get in the past. The proof of that pudding will be in the eating, but so far it looks far more palatable than lasts years fare.
NB, I think "this man's" sole ambition is keeping a job above his head, I still don't like "this man" and think he will still cost us points and cause us heartache with his negativity. I'm just hoping that the improved midfield will be able to keep us out of the brown smelly stuff!!
JM - I hope that you are sitting down!! As this may come as a surprise but I believe that if Pulis keeps his job, and he will then we will "survive" in the PL. There, I've said it. Don't pretend to like it, I am not a pragmatic man, more full steam ahead and damn the torpedo's. Then again, I do not spend huge amounts of money on season tickets etc. Whatever, as Mike Dikta (who he ?) once said, 'show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser' Pulis in
Like I say I'm not trying to be negative -far from it - but we started last season with some fantastic results. It just didn't transcend to the teams we needed to beat whic is why we finished lower than our potential. Until we perform well against the teams in and around us (bottom 10 NB) then I won't get excited. I'll be honest, Walters playing 90 minutes every game in a combination of positions is doing my swede in.
