The main source of Argyle info does seem to come through the threads on [email protected] reason to check it out regularly, and membership does give you the opportunity to comment when you feel you need to. That I find is enough involvement for me. I prefer the more low key life of not606, a much smaller community of Argyle fans, which means you do get to know individuals a little bit more and enjoy serious moments and silly banter at other times. not606 has low key moderation and control of the odd maverick is generally sorted out with minimum fuss. So I am content to use not606 as my main port of call for Argyle chat. Over the last year or so many people have worked towards the day when PAFC would be run with a new owner in charge, who is committed to the cause of a club that is for the supporters as well as the owner/directors. It must be recognized that the setting up of a Fans Trust working with the help of p@soti's communications outlet the internet, was a powerful force towards James Brent eventually taking over the club. Certain people in these organisations have been thanked for their hard work, helping to save their football club from extinction,no one more than Chris Webb who rose to the cause when needed........thanks Chris. But.........power can be a dangerous thing in the wrong hands.........success seeks more of the same and can lead to illusions of being more important than you really are. The differance between not606 and p@soti is that p@soti has got a certain amount of power with the Fans Trust..........they are interlinked by individuals who are in both set-ups with influence to bring pressure on events at times. The p@soti site is showing a few changes in how they see things..........censorship is showing it's ugly head at the moment in small ways............ Suggesting through one of it's leaders that pseudonyms should be dropped and everyone use their real names.........OK if you've got nothing to hide whats the problem is the comment..........not everyone want's to give away their personal details.......you can be quite easily tracked down by the wrong sort of person with different views.......that's not necessary. The removing of what they call "heated Threads" to end bickering (mods words) which they claim is boring for the majority. Different opinions leads to free discussion.......that's my opinion.......is that censorship? The big guns when posting always in their author box mention their "war medals".......such as......Site Admin.....P@soti member (you wouldn't be posting if you weren't).....PAST&DT Friend.....Player Sponser.....Player Sponser 11/12.....,Staff Fund Donater......Fans Trust ..........is it necessary for us to be reminded how good you are all the time. Also there is a real hate towards the Argyle Talk-Democratic website, saying snide things about them.........yet some p@soti members are on both sites !!1 I hope that they do not cause trouble with James Brent and the way that PAFC is run.
Afternoon Plymborn and all, I do have a peep at Pasoti, as a complete outsider it is a lot of fun, seeing grown men act like schoolkids picking a football team or gang. On the other hand, as you point out, it is astonishing the amount of money they have raised for staff funds, I hope they don't ruin all of the goodwill with their version of 'The Gangs of Mutley Plain'
Great thread Plym, I totally agree. I occasionally have a peek over "the other side" but only when I want to find out about something - I never post. The good thing about this site is the moderation is only used when absolutely necessary, free speech is the name of the game here and the only exception to this is when things turn personal. I'm not always in agreement with this, there are certain areas on this very site which I've found better to stay away from and there has been much discussion in recent days/weeks amongst us mods regarding this, there has been much arguing, positioning and in the end a compromise (one reason I've been away from this area of the forum) but I am very proud of our Plymouth forum, the way we behave toward each other and others who are made welcome. In general, regardless of our views which often differ, we are rather like an extended family here. It isn't for us to elevate ourselves to delusions of grandeur! You may refer to me as Mrs lala OBE (over-bearing exagerater): Parrot expert, Argyle encyclopedia, housewife extrodinare, full time perfectionist, loved by all.
Modesty becomes you Mrs lala..........but look after that developing sore throat (other thread)...............we wouldn't want you off work ..........and on here all the time would we !!!
You would never get all that ironing done. I often look at PASOTI as generally there are snippets to be had on there. What I do not like however is the constant back slapping and trumpet blowing of how great they are. There is no doubt they have helped to raise a great deal of dosh and there is also no doubt that their hearts are in the right place when it comes to supporting the unpaid staff who supported us. There does however apppear to be a stiffling of opinion and desenters are slapped down by the faithful who seem to treat certain posters as idols. Whilst some plaudits are quite right and acceptable, fawning over these people to the point of nobody being able to criticise anything they say or do is quite wrong. The idea of a plaque to name the wonderful came from there and thankfully it got knocked on the head. There have been many many people who have contributed in their own way to the saving of Argyle by putting their hard earned cash in buckets etc. Without this silent majority the organisers would have failed in their quest and the saving of Argyle was not down to 3 or 4 well meaning supporters even if they did put a lot of time in. Acknowledging their efforts is one thing but sainthood is a little too far. Whilst 606 is small contributor wise compared to PASOTI I know which one I prefer to be on and I have not even contemplated joining the other one. Besides that somebody has to keep you all in check and put you wise when you come out with your stupid ideas. St. Sensiblegreeny has a sort of ring to it don't you think?
The members of Pasoti cant know what the weather is like because most of them are so far up themselves .... I use it to find out the latest with Argyle but whoa betide anyone who disagrees with the masses !
They never listen to a different point of view, and hunt in packs .... its a waste of time arguing with any of them you'd get more sense talking to a plank of wood lol
As long as it's cedar wood sensible..............once had a cedar wood summerhouse..........lovely wood with no knots in it.
