I have been a Hull City passholder now for more years than I care to remember (well over 30) & have during that time only missed a handful of games either home or away. I have been sitting with the same group of fellow fans every other weekend since we moved to the KC & some even from our days at Boothferry Park.

This season I will have missed more games through surgery on my back than I probably missed in the last 10 years (assuming I can get back to the KC in Feb as the doctors have promised)

While I have been laid up I thought that I would miss going to games more than I have...I still think I have the same desire to see my club do well, but all the ongoing saga over the name change etc have left a bitter taste in my mouth.

For these reasons I have decided that this will be my last as a City passholder, I will still hopefully attend a number of games but I don't feel like committing so much time, money & effort into the club where the owners don't seem to have my best interests or views at heart. I have also made the decision that in the event the name is ever changed to Hull Tigers that I will stop going to watch the club completely...at least I have North Ferriby United on my doorstep for that footie fix

There is certainly a feeling of detachment felt by a fair few now.
    It doesn't feel the same

I've skipped Villa, Liverpool and Everton away this season, then over Christmas I missed Swansea(home), Sunderland(away), Everton(home) and yesterday's game away at Arsenal, I've also not bought tickets for the upcoming games against West Brom or West Ham.

Even if I go to every game beyond this, this will be my lowest attendance in a season for ten years.

There's a similar thread on CI at the moment, a lot of long standing fans are getting fed up of the ongoing **** and their interest is fading.

Your health comes first fella. You'll probably make more games without the pass and without the pressure to make the games. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I haven't been to a home game all season and I won't be setting foot inside that stadium again until the tinpot dictator has been removed.

Did you miss the home games out of choice or due to other reasons?

I dont think anyone disagrees the Premier League is top division and best to be in but its ****ing **** in reality. Games moved all over the shop for tv, seems to be hardly any games due to England games taking priority. It is **** just not sure how it will change.

What has been the trouble with your back? My wife's sister went through hell with hers! Three ops inserting screws and a final op having the wrap around cage fitted! That's FOUR ops on her lower back and she contracted salmonella in the final visit! If you've had an op on your back and it's been successful I'm really pleased for you and suggest you don't worry about the nutter and pick your games! Shankly was wrong in my view!

I was at a wedding for the Swansea game and didn't feel well for the Everton game, I'm not normally going to be skipping home games, though I've turned down wedding invitations and gone to City ill in the past.

Thanks for the good wishes folks.....I'm hoping now the op is over I should be back to form, the thing is that the forced absence has given me time to think if I still enjoy going to games as much as I should with all the **** that is ongoing.

I certainly won't be renewing for next season & will have to see where we go from there, but am targeting Man City away or Villa home at the latest for my return this season, possibly Villa may be more likely as I don't want to get Man City tickets and not be able to go

It's the 4th attempt to sort things & hopefully this should have done the trick. It was my own fault really (not the accident) as I had a motorcycle accident 30 years ago and never mentioned that I had some slight lower back pain. It turned out about 10 years ago when I had what I thought was a trapped nerve that in that accident I had fractured a couple of vertebrae & they had not fused correctly & not 100% in line. I had 3 ops back then involving a bit if screwing & 2 small pins.....they thought it had resolved things but I'd been in pain on & off since, the docs said it would simply be arthritis. Eventually I got referred to a specialist who found that there were in fact a couple of bits of bone which had fused back slightly wrong after the initial accident & were putting pressure on the spinal cord.

What they have done apparently is a bit more Meccano plus shaved away the offending bits of bone ....so far things are apparently looking good.

Moral of the story...if you ever have an accident & have any back pain at all..TELL THE DOCTORS .... don't think you are just hard & that it's nothing & will go away.

Anyway time for a nice opiate induced snooze :1980_boogie_down:

Not quite the same, I'm a Hull City fan, always have been always will be, I'll never be a fan of some American sounding Hull Tigers, or ultimately the Allam wish of The Tigers

It won't change it'll get worse with the new TV deal that's getting negotiated now.
Apparently more time slots getting sold so more games moved.
Just money money money screw the fans I'm affraid

Im with North Ferriby Tiger all the way on what he has posted. My interest is fast waning and he is lucky. I have a hell of a long way to travel to watch City. I have said that I will give it to the end of the season and see what happens in Feb at the FA. If Allam continues with it all after that then I will not be renewing next season. He has abused our supporters for far to long now and is just a tinpot dictator.

I sincerely hope you are sorted Ferriby ... My back kills half the time but after 3 replacement hips I think sod it ... I have similar feelings about the club and before I started working in the Middle East ... and lived in Cambridge I attended most games home and away pre Premiership years and the first year in the premiership but the will is slowly dwindling away ... I will always love the club but the bridge between club and fans has never been wider in my opinion.

Any way fella all the best, what ever you decide.

    <cheers>

Pretty much the same here. The irony of it all is it's not even the name change itself that's the issue, I could live with that if there was a good reason for it. It's the continued lies (eg we can't have had all 3 of 2, 1, and zero sponsors pull out as a result of the name change not happening but they've claimed all 3), thinly veiled threats that they've no intention of carrying out (even Jack Bauer didn't have 24 hours last this long), and general abuse directed at fans. I might be a football fan, but I'm not stupid enough to go giving £500+ to them when they're treating me like an idiot who's there to be bullied into agreeing with them. It's turned out quite nicely as well, since I've not been going I've saved a fortune on the tickets and travel so I'm using the money to go to Australia to see family, do the Aussie GP, and then stop in Dubai for a few days on the way back.

So you're not there in the PL but you'll be there in the Championship, the purpose of which is to win as many games as possible to get into the PL, which takes the sort of money thats been provided by our owners, because, you're a real fan?

I have been to fewer games this season so far than for a long time, for various reasons. Travelling on my own these days does make it slightly more difficult to drum up enthusiasm for matchdays, and I also have work commitments at least one weekend per month. I also cannot afford it quite so easily now for a variety of reasons but the overall increase in ticket prices does not help, (Cat C matches aside). However it might be worth the effort and cost of a 180 mile round trip if we didn't have owners that treat fans with complete contempt; if we didn't have such a fractious atmosphere at the ground and fans split down the middle. If the club actually did something to promote a quality matchday experience. I still haven't forgotten being lumped in with a load of Chelsea fans in the North Stand last year and receiving absolutely nothing in response when I complained to the club.

The thing is I really do want to go to games. And although I have my own reasons, the club are doing absolutely nothing to sway my opinion positively so at the moment I cannot be arsed to go to anything except the odd game or two when it's convenient. As things stand I am more tempted to go and wander down to Altrincham FC on a Saturday.

Wishing you a speedy recovery anyway North Ferriby - I'm assuming you're drinking plenty of single malts for medicinal purposes.
