As we approach the run in with 13 games remaining its the Gills turn to be entertained at Adams Park and while we are in the top half of the table just our opponents are just keeping their heads above water three points above the drop zone but their record over the last five game is the same as our own having collected just the five points. Gaz willbe without captain Adam El-Abd who suspended after picking up a red card last weekend, while Luke Bolton has been assessed throughout the week after leaving the field at Oakwell with an injury. There are no other new concerns, with Darius Charles and Yves Ma-Kalambay the longer-term absentees hoping to return soon. I will be at this one enjoying a pint or two hoping we can continue our good home form and another win will put us three points closer to our target with twelve games remaining
Any idea what the magic number might be this year? 53 could be a dodgy target with most teams near the bottom only needing to win half of their remaining games to reach that. We would only need to win 3 and draw 1 to achieve that. 51 was safe last year but I can't see it being that low this year
Since 3 points for a win was introduced way back in the 1981/82 season the highest total to get relegated from the third tier of English football playing a 46 game season was 54 points way back in 1988/89 there has been two occasions when 53 points wasn't enough 1981/82 and 1982/83 and once when 52 points 1993/94 resulted in the drop since then there hasn't been above 51 points hope that helps Ron Statto
Team news is in at Adams Park; four changes for the #Chairboys this afternoon as Stewart, Bloomfield, Kashket and Akinfenwa all come in. Starting XI: Allsop, McCarthy, Jacobson, Jombati, Stewart, Thompson, Gape, Bloomfield (c), Cowan-Hall, Kashket, Akinfenwa. #WYCvGIL https://t.co/WVDr3CfeEa
Oh FFS I'm really beginning to get depressed now. We can't seem to get any goals lately. I thought we had a useful strike force but it's not happening. Can't see many points being picked up from now on. Hopefully enough to stay up
Just watched the highlights how the feck did we not score so many really good chances and missed them all ffs
