And I thought it must be April... This relates to 2020. So has he been sentenced in absentia? If he's in France, the question is, can he get bail pending an appeal, and even if so, would he be allowed to leave France?
I saw something about this a few weeks ago and presumed it was bollocks. Obviously not. What doesn't seem clear is whether he's actually now in prison or whether he's been sentenced in his absence and will be deported? Bloody hell!!
You would assume by the club statement that there is an appeal process in the offing. Not at all good though from the sound of various reports.
12 months inside https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/breaking-qpr-ilias-chair-jailed-32196431
With another year suspended ! You couldn't make it up. If he's guilty of it then **** him, he deserves to go down. Quite what it means for the hoops I don't know, but we're in deeper **** by the day !
But that statement is from the Daily Mirror article, which if its in their paper today , means that statement came yesterday and the verdict was passed today !
He has definitely been found guilty and sentenced to a year inside with another year suspended. He has appealed the verdict and is in the UK and apparently still available for selection ! All over social media now and various news sources. Don't know if I really want a **** like that playing for us if he did it. His brother has also been sentenced to a year inside ! And I thought Barton was as low as we could go
On Talksport now. 5 papers have released latest update that he's been found guilty and given 1 year inside
The Mail states a one year suspended sentence meaning, presumably, he's available for selection. Even if he is, what does that do to your head and performance?
That's not much of a statement. You'd think they would at least clarify the current situation one way or the other.
It's a year in jail plus a year's suspension He's in France. Even if he gets bail pending an appeal, I doubt he'll be able to leave French jurisdiction
