I've noticed two threads on here today feature a couple of well worn words considered totally unacceptable, unlawful even, in current parlance. I deleted the posts on one thread only to find them repeated in another. Wtf? Just left the second thread as is... So, so boring.

People know what they're doing but are obviously want to persist in presenting such terms as if in all innocence. Thereafter it's all set to become a silly game of 'pc gone mad' as mods are forced away from the football stuff to make judgements and take the actions necessary to keep things moderate and acceptable for the majority.

Personally I'm sensitive enough not to play with words known to cause offence to others but hopefully not so pious as to apply my personal standards to everyone else at every given opportunity.

What irks me though is either the lack of forethought and self-moderation shown by grown people bashing a keyboard for kicks - or more likely the fun certain posters evidently derive from engaging our mods into 'damned if we do, damned if we don't' scenarios. We expect due support from all posters to help the process, not hinder it in the way these posts have done.

Not606 was set up as much to free us from the BBC's excessively pedantic moderation regime, as to ultimately provide an alternative to pick up when 606 closed down. In so doing, this site decided to let the larger boards self-moderate. If this means keeping a weather-eye to keep our board healthy and vibrant, count me in. If on the other hand, it means running round after over-aged schoolkids deliberately provoking 'teacher' in an attempt to tire them out and create precedents for ever greater levels of ignorance, find yourselves another mod.

Personally I trust your judgement but if you want input from others about what is and isn't acceptable then you need to leave the articles up for a while so we can comment.

Nothing worse than over moderation on the internet, you all seem to be doing a great job.<ok>He pissed me off coming across like a feminist about a couple of my posts, that's the only reason, I didn't just keep schtum and leave it to you boys, when he crossed the line.
PS sorry about the complaint from Fulham<whistle>

It being football fans and the internet and all, I probably expected far worse than what we get on this site tbh. Even GC has it's work cut out trying to plumb ever lower depths of depravity. Problem for them is there's only so far you can get with insults and the like before the repetitive mindlessness of it all neutralises itself (ever tried heaving volleys of abuse and running out of swear words?!).

Fact is, with regard to our board and given the obvious white male majority involved, I've been extremely impressed with the level of humanist consciousness expressed by almost all on here since I joined. As per usual, one or two tiresome little toads poking holes in the fabric just for the hell of it. I'd expect that from teenagers but not from fiftysomethings. Though judging by some of their material, they clearly missed the bus back in their day and are busy making up for lost time. Sad though, innit?!

There have been quite a few comments on here over the last couple of days that have been in pretty poor taste in my opinion. Whether it's posters trying to shock or be clever I don't know. To say I'm not impressed is an understatement.
Fortunately I can ignore most of it, but there have been a few that have crossed the line. I'm no prude, far from it, but people need to think before they click that 'post reply' button. Otherwise we will lose followers of this site. One of the reasons I had a break from the forum was because there were certain posters who thought their musings were gospel and no one else's opinions were worth considering.
I have to admit that some of what I've read over past few days has been far worse than anything that brought about my sabbatical.
It's a real shame as the vast majority of threads or posts are either informative, intelligent or funny, more often than not a combination of the three. As with everything else, it's the odd one.

There are so many different boards on the internet these days that meet all our needs however simple or perverse. This board is for QPR fans to discuss all things QPR and a variety of other interesting topics when things get quiet. This board was not set up as an outlet for people to come on here to abuse others. If this is your aim, bugger off. I don't consider myself an internet nerd or worm scrawling through various sites all hours of the day. This is the first forum that I joined and I even watched it for months beforehand, to see was it worth joining. I eventually did so because I felt the vast majority of peopleon here were like minded (QPR minded) and came on here to discuss and argue all things QPR. I just love that. QPR is somehow in my blood like many of you all and this forum is such an excellent source of information and fun at times. I love the varied personalities and individuals that make up this board. It's refreshing and interesting. Maybe it's just me, but I really have great difficulty understanding why some people come on here with the sole intention of winding people up. Why? How sad is that? We all get enough grief at home and at work and in our private lives, that this for me, is a great outlet to escape and discuss one of my great loves. I don't need to come on here and see the deliberate bullsh**e that some people dish out. Verbal abuse, cyber bullying etc etc. The few can easily ruin it for the many. I have seen so many good threads turn to mush because one or two individuals selfishness. Their personal need for notice or attention. When I was asked to become a Mod, I had to think carefully about it. I want to come on here and enjoy it. I want to pass my comments/observations/arguements in an adult manner. Respecting others. Argueing with others, but accepting that others may have a different opinion. I have found it difficult so far being a Mod. Brix and Goldy (and Northy) before really don't want to get involved. They see it as a last resort and rightly so. But what is acceptable for some is sometimes not acceptable for others. The worst thing is making a post which you know will deliberately irk others. Why? Again, so very very sad.

This is a great forum. The season can't come fast enough. Please, think before you post. Make it as varied as you want, just don't cross the line deliberately.

Cheers NUTS, think you just summed up the frustration for many on here. This being my biggest issue:
Well thought through and written piece, shows why you're an excellent choice for a mod imo.

As you say, the season can't come fast enough!
