......what reaction from travelling fans will Nicky receive at Coventry. Think it's a tough one for DM. Has Maynard unsettled the team, and have the players known for a couple of weeks and recent results affected ??? (I still think it's because we miss Cisse). DM is between a rock and a hard place - he needs to play him because a) he's our best striker and b) Maynard needs to be in the shop window. OR does DM do what a 'GJ' would do and put him on 'Gardening leave'. Me - I'd go with Pitman and leave Maynard babysitting his new addition. I've spent many years in football and cricket dressing rooms and it doesn't matter how good an individual is, if he wants out then sooner the better. Funny - but it always left the remaining players a lot more united. Maynard is now a 'bad apple' and mustn't be allowed to spoil the rest of the barrel.
The players will have known for ages he didn't have any intention of signing a new contract. I did! It was obvious. Time to move on for all parties.
if i was going (im not due to a upcoming hangover) i would clap him, but one thing i have noticed is at home maynard dosent get any songs sang for him....its all about albert now, adomah has about 10 songs for him whilst maynard has the dreadful DU DU DU DUUUU NICKY MAYNARD,,, could of thought of something better Thank you nicky, you did us proud good luck in the future
Very tough call for DM, if he leaves Maynard out, he could see his transfer fee deminish, if he plays and scores, we could well get between 3 & 4 million, problem is, he could sit here till the summer and go on a free. So for the benefit of the club DM has to play him, saying that, if the rumours are correct about Fulham, he certainly would'nt be in a team of mine.
He struggled to get goals last season because of his injury, and this season he's not been spectacular. Make no mistake that those looking towards buying him have his exploits two years ago in mind when looking to buy him. For that reason I'd keep him off the pitch. It's too much of a risk as he could very easily get injured and we'd end up with an injured player few would want to grant a medical to that will leave in a few months for nothing. Hopefully McInnes is on the phone at the moment trying to work out some deals. I'm not too fussed about how much we get for him, especially when a team like Everton could send down a bunch of free loanees with cash to help us fight relegation and sweeten the deal.
Great point Ember. Play him against Coventry, some numpty full back decides to show him what 'premiership' is all about and crocks him for 6 weeks. We won't get much for him then. Better to stick him on the bench and maybe give him 15 minutes at the end if we are desperately chasing a goal.
Yawn - I've already told you he will grind his contract down and walk on a free - that way he can demand a higher wage for himself
