With what we have now probably not no strikers and no left side, that's assuming the new man sees Ji and Whickham as future players. January is the time to get those players in then we should be in a far better position to see if we can get ourselves back on our feet and moving up the table. Changing it now or as most think after the Villa game will give the new man a chance to assess the present players before committing to any solid transfer dealings, lets face it he can't do much worse.
Thats a good question and the answer is I don't know... However I believe that a decent manager will give us a better chance of survival. Stick with Bruce, survive till May and then get rid would be the best option but the problem with that decision is that we don't know if Bruce is capable of keeping us up. Stick with Bruce and get relegated then we may not be able to appoint the type of manager we would hope to... Sack Bruce and appoint a new man now and he may lose the feel good factor very quickly if he is unable to work with the squad that we have. That could have implications on player recruitment and season ticket sales in the summer. All in all, I'd terminate Bruce's contract and appoint O'Neill. Red and white to the core, lets get back to basics. please log in to view this image
Oneil red & white my arse. To the best of my knowledge he has been given 2 opportunites to manage us and knocked us back both times, albeit once with a very good reason. He has spat his dummy out too many times for me. Sticking with bruce till may would be ideal however, as rightly pointed out would we survive. SB has improved our position each year he has been here and, not for or against SB, does he deserve the chance? His tactical nous is zero, his substitutions baffling but I dont know. If only he was more attack minded imo the nucleus of a good team is there. PS. How the f*ck did anybody post on here last night. i tried on & off for 3 hours ish without success.
I'm with Gil on the squad. I don't think it's too bad, and, yes, I do think a new manager could turn it round. But we mustn't leave it too long before making the change. The thing right now is that there's only a one point gap between the places up to 10th. Then there's a 2 point gap to ninth. A couple of decent results could see us halfway up the table in no time. If we leave it till the gaps grow to 2 or 3 points, it'll be much harder to climb out. The bottom five or six clubs usually get stranded and if we wait too long we'd face relegation fears for the rest of the season. ASAP for me.
