....we had taken all the horses selected in the Betting Bank Competition today and permed them in 6 horse accumulators it would have reqd 47,040 points to be staked and would have returned 2,080,728 points, equivalent to just over 43/1 on total stake.

Islanderpei: Digressing, but that was a nasty business in Vancouver yesterday? It is a shame when just a minority of louts spoil everything for a whole nation, let alone Vancouver? I was living over there when the Red Army team beat Canada in a series thing, I believe. The Canucks were fed-up but took it on the chin and certainly didn't riot!
The problem was filon, that they allowed a street party that got bigger and bigger at every home game.i've been to many a game in Montreal, Boston and i have never seen any Hoolligism, even sat next to opposing supporters and had a few beers while watching the game, never any trouble. I doubt if any real fans were involved, just the cretins of the world. It would probably still been the same if the cans had won.
Islanderpei: Yes, you are absolutely right. When I lived in Edmonton I just "lived" for Hockey Night in Canada" every Saturday evening. The games were as tough as they come, but the fans were always impeccably behaved. A mate of mine was a top local player, a defender, didn't quite make it to the absolute top but used to watch him play a lot. Great memories!
I have very little knowledge of Canada but I once went there for a conference (took my wife) and stayed in a hotel in Toronto on the edge of Lake Ontario. Very nice place Toronto. Nice shops, very clean. Lots of black squirrels. Went to the CN Tower and the Falls and there was an historic western village called Black something (I think). Great time. It was from an hotel there that I watched my favourite filly Pebbles smash the course record in the Breeders Cup. Had it been run a day or two earlier we would have been able to see it live, so annoying.
Filon at least with boston winning the stanely cup will visit PEI again this summer,i forgot the players name its on the tip of my tongue,Its good for the kids and they normaly do a bit of a parade. The last time it came the cup went for a ride on a lobster boat down the Murry river. I will have to do a survey and find out what islanders find more exciting. The visit of the newly wed royals or the visiting Stanley cup. I have a feeling it will be a close call
Ron only been toToronto for a flying visit did not see much. One of these days i will go to Woodbine to see the racing live.
