Aden Flint hadn't of made that ****ish pass back at Port Vale would we be feeling at our lowest in morale? Or was it the terrible performance 3 days later at Wycombe? 18.09.13 SOD said "But this is going to be a difficult season - I've said it time and time again." "If they bear with it, we'll be ok. I feel i'm a very patient person, often having the patience of a Saint, but i'm starting to feel edgy like I did with Del, always willing the manager to do well but unfortunately resulting in constant failure. We know the time will come when another defeat is the straw that breaks the camel's back, is this thought on the mind of the board, manager or players already? Or is everyone awaiting for SOD's famous words to kick in "If they bear with it, we'll be ok.'?
I have to admit also, My patience is being tested. Usually when you're where we are its because you're playing crap and a couple of good performances will get you out of the mess but we're playing good and still not getting out of it.....
We all want our Manager to do well and I hate our predicament right now. I stayed loyal to Del when most others had given up, but this is a far worse and more worrying situation. Unless the board are determined to keep him whatever the results and whatever division we are in then a defeat at Crewe might just be the end of the road for SOD but who knows.
Sling em all out and start again. SL may be a knight in shining armour but he's no businessman. We need an empresario, someone who knows when and where to speculate to maximise the potential. We should have gone up in 2008, but instead we went down because a decent amount of money was not spent to capitalise on Johnson's good work when it would have counted (and he should not have spent £1m on the Swansea castoff). £3m on an inform goalscorer like Southampton did with Lambert and Reading with Shane Long would have seen us up automatically. That is Lansdown's biggest folly, not the £50m he has spent keeping us in business. If Bristol hasn't sufficient interest in football to fund a Championship team with better support than 15,000 avarage Championship crowds, then its not really Lansdown's place to be building the club in that way. On the other hand, if he had speculated on the team when it mattered, we would now be bringing in Premiership funds and 25,000 home gates. Its damage limitation with SL, and that kind of thinking is like King Canute trying to stop the tide by shouting at it
Dels situation was much worse than the one we're in, having dog **** players like pearson and morris on 5k a week, with jon stead 10k per week we were a shambles on and off the pitch I know results are exactly the same as dels reign but at least we're controlling our finances and have no journeymen leaching off our club, we have young players with a mixture of youth, which is what everyone wanted.
. Results are worse under O'Driscoll. A young team, better controlled finances, was what some people wanted but not at the cost of playing in the 4th division !!!!! Sling em all out and start again. Spot on, every single word and observation. Lansdown for me is the biggest culprit in all of this and is solely to blame for where, and what we are now. I would suggest he stays in Guernsey out of the way and looks for a buyer
we won't go down, it's pretty obvious to see when you watch the games we're better than half the teams in this division, of course results aren't going our way but in every single game we've played apart from Peterborough we could of had a much different result Sling them out and start again after 10 games?? Really??
landsdowns no businesman?,pleease, then how the hell did he help build a company the size of hargreaves landsdown?. the problem is that in the past he"s been guilty of running the club with his heart and not his head, something he"d never do in his day to day affairs.
He is a very successful businessman indeed, without question, but as I've stated on here many times previously, had he run Hargreaves Lansdown the way he has mismanaged (no other word for it) BCFC they would have gone bust years ago. Lan - The sling em out after 10 games wasn't my comment originally
No, but you did agree with my sentiments Angelic. Along with a good percentage, I grow tired of the confused and backwards management being perpetrated in the boardroom under the guise of austerity SL built his empire on an inspired ability to argue the law. Just because he is a world class solicitor doesnt make him a businessman, and his record thus far at Bristol City bears that out
Ever since the day he was appointed I've never been impressed with the things I hear him say, ever! If the few occasions he speaks to the press he sounds moronic, what must it be like to work with him on a day to day basis. He doesn't strike me as a manager who instils any belief into these players. When your confidence is waning, you need your spirits lifted, not jibberish and nonsense. If it is this bad early on, how brief will our success be before it gets just as bad again. I hope I am wrong, I really do! The football is better than under GJ final years, and Millen, but too easy for teams to suss out, hence why we aren't winning. If they can suss it out at this level, then someone needs to point out to 'Noisy' he will need a brilliant plan B if we ever get promoted.
IMO, the time to try and change the style of play, is to do it half way through the season, when you are fairly sure all is safe. Nice and entertaining football does not get you out of League one..as for the young, youth and academy getting us out of the dire......think again. Again I stress, anything any good coming through the Academy will not stay with us..........unless of course they have no brains!
Had SL changed his profession? Bit contradictory your statement here Onefor given what your signature say's anyway always good to have you back, you're like the grim reaper only appear when it's going tits up
Depends what you consider decent, I think it's a broad statement...as for commenting on when I appear, I think you will find I give it approx 12 games in the season, nothing to do with when it goes tits up.
I really want to trust and believe SOD, he said "If they bear with it, we'll be ok.'', Well time to put that 'we'll be ok' plan into action! He has to show some fighting spirit that rubs off onto the team. I can't say I like reading all the anti-sod comments, RR has been the biggest turn-coat of all, i think i may of had a little respect for him if he stood by and supported SOD but he's already kissing colin's ass... ****ing dead mans boots... two faced ****
