I spoke to my reporter mate on the way home from Cambridge yesterday evening. It seems we were very close to losing Pepe Reina in the January transfer window, to.............................

When my mate heard, he couldn't believe it. so he called the journo who did Reina's book. A staunch Red and a member of SoS. He confirmed it. It was kept quiet for obvious reasons.

From Reina's perspective it makes sense. Title medal more or less guaranteed, challenging for CL, wouldn't have to move, etc...

I doubt Ronaldo will leave Madrid but if he does it will be for either PSG or United. His transfer fee would be less than Madrid paid for him as he's currently refusing to sign a new contract. United could afford to pay for him as we have players to offload plus the initial shirt sales and extra endorsements would probably more than cover the transfer fee! It would be interesting to see whether he could keep up his goal a game ratio in what is supposedly a weak PL.

As for Reina, wouldn't want him, maybe he's lost focus but he's not the keeper he was a few years ago.

Well if true its a good thing it didnt happen as there would of been a lot of anger at a lot of people. Pepe would of got a lot of stick as well as Rodgers. It could of been catastrophic for Rodgers there seems to be a few on the fence about him and that would of rocked the boat and could of had another Hodgson situation on our hands.
