May I thank the person who threw a three-quarter inch ball of lead down the terrace in the Northam end. Fortunately it was just a glancing blow; fortunately it missed my ten-year-old son next to me and fortunately it clearly hadn't travelled far or I'd have been knocked out. So, anyone who was in seats 1040 - 1090 (approximately) in rows higher than FF: If you saw someone throw something a minute or two after half time, please do let me know. You can get hold of me at [email protected]. The security team are looking at CCTV footage but any help locating the individual would be greatly appreciated.
Gee guys....Please tell me that wasn't a Saints fan.!? I hope they have the lead because they may be able to get finger prints from it. I am truly glad no body got seriously hurt. Some one some where knows who it is, do you know if he is caught you can be charged as an accessory after the fact? Rolled up lead can be a lethal weapon it could do serious harm. If you knew who threw it it isn't grassing on someone for such a mindless act. Especially as it is a criminal act and could effect yours and his, for the rest of your lives. The stupidity some times beggars belief............
Well, I'm getting there early for the Tottenham game and I'll be leafletting the seats it could have come from. I'm going to be offering a £100 reward for information leading to prosecution. Someone MUST have seen it and I'm going to do what I can to get the sod. If I can get it down to even a few seats the club will do the rest from the CCTV. It was a cast piece of metal, like a flattened ball-bearing; it must have been taken along with the intention of being thrown. If it had hit my son he'd have been out cold on the floor. Unfortunately, I don't see it as having come from the Fulham section; we're just too far away.
Let's not try to apply logic, Lamballana. And we mustn't presume that the perpetrator or his mates feel shamed by this, just the very opposite. They'll be wetting themselves. They're the type who can bring out the closet reactionary in the most liberal of us. Sadly low life can pop up anywhere. The cross section of Saints fans is not so different to anywhere else. Good hunting, Onionman. And I would hope that you'll get the full cooperation of the club and the Police.
three-quarter inch ball of lead? Is that like a fishing weight? What kind of person takes that to a football match?
Good Luck Onionman. Can I ask you, just how close you came to not taking your son to the next game? I'd have been beside myself at the thought of this happening to my son, who is also 11.
Sorry to hear about this act of madness Onionman. I have been taking my youngest to watch Saints since he was about 5 and he is now 15. These days we are in block 37 in the corner between Kingsland & Northam. Thankfully never had anything like this happen to us home or away but i too would be well peed off if something like this hit & hurt my son - even now, and he is now over 6 foot tall ! I suppose you like your present position and you shouldnt have to, but is it worth shifting out of the Northam - as i say never had any problem where we are.
If I didn't take him on this basis, I'd never let him out to the shops, on his pushbike on the road or to private meetings with Michael Jackson ever again. It's too rare to worry. Every fan around me was shocked beyond belief, so it's not like it's happening all the time. More seriously, if I told my son I wasn't going to take him again, I'd be needing major surgery for the injuries he'd inflict on me. We'll get the bugger and he'll miss every game for the rest of his life.
I agree Fran, but imagine if that had hit his son. I couldn't imagine how I'd feel if that happened to me and hit my son.
It looked like a ball-bearing flattened on one side. I can't see it having any use apart from as a missile.
Lay off the Northam! This was one idiot. I have been sitting/standing on the Northam for years. It's the place for banter and the best laughs. Yes, it is also the section that attracts its share of nutters, but as Fran says this is a rare event. Good luck, Onionman. We need this prat nailed.
Shame on you for this childish comment. I hope they find and ban the culprit, Onionman. There is no room in football for this type of disgusting act
I said select few, you can't deny that. Look at what some fans did when Lee Barnard scored against you for Bournemouth.
