Slap on the wrist and a fine is the right thing to do. Remind him no matter who wants him, how good he may be, he isn't bigger than the team and he shouldn't act like it.

Unless of course it turns out to be an honest naive mistake, in which case let the fine serve as a message not to be an idiot in the future.

Adkins should leave the bad cop role to Nicola and he should carry on being positive about life at Saints. Alex needs to be aware that he was in the wrong, but NA mustn't allow him to get isolated.

If every club CEO behaved like Nicola then all this breaking of contracts and player/agent power would be better managed.

Asit stands most CEOs are a bunch of hypocrites unsettling players at another club and encouraging other teams players to break contracts while bemoaning their lot when it happens to them.

Noicola is behaving correctly as is Nigel.

Zero tolerance of misbehaviour would sort out football, schools and society.

As I have said before , get rid him of now as this cant be good for the rest of the team or the club as a whole. I really rate him as a player a better prospect than Walcott and probably Bale as well but if he wants to sit on the bench for a top four club earining a big wedge then just get shot of him.

He's been fined, so it's dealt with. Presumably they will now get back to getting ready for what actually matters, which starts on 6th August.

I'd keep him bench for the Leeds game and bring him on for a short period of time towards the end. If he doesn't start, he'll realise there's at least 11 more important players than him and it might just keep him grounded a little

The trouble is guys with all this I wanna go rubbish being banded about what we don't know is has anyone actually put in an offer? There has obviously been a lot of media hype, but no one has actually said they will offer anything. If he carries on I can see him being left in the academy lower ranks for the next couple of years. By that time no one will be that interested.....stardom in football is only short lived.

what I would do if I was NA is:

Sit him down with NC and his Dad. Explain that we value him highly and he is loved by the fans and staff alike. Understand his desire to play top flight football. Express my belief that if he went to Arsenal or top 4 team, he would not play much first team football for a year or two.

I'd then ask him to sign a new contract with more money, that would give him a chance to start getting used to handling larger amounts of money (this is a problem for youngsters), like a stepping stone to the really big bucks. This contract would have a clause that if next summer the big guns offer a set fee £12m ??? maybe, then we will let him go. I'd also add a clause that said if we get promoted, that clause triggers a further increase in the transfer fee, as we would then also be a premier league club. I'd also include a promotion salary increase too, as he may then feel that he can play in the prem with Saints.

If he still says he doesn't want to do this, I'd turn to his father and tell him that he should go back to Mnsr Wenger's Board and say "Put up (the cash) or shut up". If the money is shown he can go. If not, can a 17 year old risk a year of unhappiness and lack of progress in his development, because ulitmately a career at that age is about momentum...... there maybe a new oxo in a few months time.

Explain to him to he did was against club rules and this was why he was fined. Confirm that it is all in the past now and he should forget all about it, and look at the future. Reassure him he is still a key part of the team and we want him in our team as we make a challenge for the league this year.

Someone else mentioned that Chamberlains father was well travelled.
The signs are emerging that this young man may be just heading in the same direction. It was said many times before that Chamberlain senior did not reach his full potential because he didn't in the main knuckle down.
Surely he knows that and he doesn't want that for his son?
Why on earth let him sign a three year contract and then try and renege on it so quickly?

I'd send him to bed with no supper, and make him tidy his room.

Actually, that might not work. I'm still waiting for my son to tidy his room, and he's 20.
