So if you were a player, what position would you like to play? Would you wanna be a one club man at Newcastle or maybe a surprise and not even play for the Toon? I'll start by being maybe a surprise, I wanted to be a goalkeeper. I always enjoyed it and I'm 6ft 2 so, good height. Wouldn't want to play for just Newcastle, I'd probably want to start off there and maybe return later down the line. You don't have a long career (maybe keeper has a lot longer) and I'd want to experience as much as possible. I'd certainly want to play abroad, Spain or Italy. Edit: If enough people respond and we have a diverse amount of positions we can do a Newcastle board 11
Either a CB as I actually enjoy watching a quality CB performance the most but I was never big enough or a Roberto Baggio type, that was more my game. I loved Italian football when I was young so I'd like to play for either Juve or Fiorentina
I was a right winger, all i could do was run fast and I had good dead ball delivery. Rubbish with the moving ball though, occassionally it all came together and people got the false impression i was really good as i went past a player and then whipped in an excellent cross. My team-mates knew full well though that I tripped over my legs more often than not or just got my head down and run the ball directly out of play. I'lll take Right or Left wing and the name "Tresor Lomana Haslam"
I played left back or left wing usually, had a couple of good games at centre half too. I was (still am) ****e in general though. Reckon I'm still better than Atsu though, so I'll play down the left
This or AC Milan. Something about AC, even with their current state is so iconic. I'd love to retire and say "Yeah, I played for AC."
I could always play with both feet, so I always used to swap between left and right wing. Preferably left as I’m stronger on my right foot so I enjoyed cutting and belting one. I’d start at Newcastle, I’ve always loved the thought of playing at Dortmund for some reason, I like the underdog teams, good teams but not quite the best in the domestic leagues. I’d also like to play for Atletico aswell then as I reached about 32/33 return to Newcastle and being experience to the team. Thankyou for taking your time to read my cover letter. Regards, Leo
Left wing. I’m a left footer and have a decent engine. I’d like to play for NUFC but not under Ashley and his toxic regime. Other clubs I’d play for as I developed my game would be.. Gateshead Peterborough Hull City Leeds Liverpool
Lads this left wing is getting a little crowded. @Leo Billy you're getting shifted to the right. @haslam is capable of walking forwards and crossing a dead ball so I am going to treat you as our home grown Gary Neville regen. @Roy Munson despite being a conscientious objector if required you'll be a holding midfielder cos it suits your personality. Bit like a Robbie Savage.
No 10 for me 5ft 10 and stocky bit like Beardsley We were taught to use both feet in my days bit like Beardsley A lot of players nowadays only use one foot and that is limited and it shows Bit like ASM
Defensive midfield for me although I've had stints across the back 4. Have always been stubbornly determined not to lose my man. Have been know to pick out a pass or 2 after winning the ball back to set up an attack Would like to start off in Southampton academy before a move over to Italy (Inter preferably) then come back to the UK for Newcastle around 27/28. Edit: Going to Newcastle would possibly seem less appealing after a few years in Milan. Maybe stay in Italy a bit longer then move to Rheindorf Altach (Austrian team near St Anton - I've always fancied owning an Austrian ski chalet)
I’ll have the attacking midfielder role, used to play there for years, I’d pop up with the odd screamer from time to time....definitely a one man club with Newcastle, I would then use my position to get close to Ashley, invite him for a curry one night, choke the bastard to death and save the club!! Proper Roy of the rovers stuff
If we’ve decided to play the team around me as was agreed last night I would point out I’m a decent headerer of the ball but prefer the ball played to feet as am excellent 2 footed and whilst not Supermac quick faster than Usain Bolt. We should therefore play with one winger switching flanks during the game and a number 10 with an ability to slide the ball into gaps created by my off the ball running with a number 4 who can pick a long pass similar to Terry Hibbitt or Tommy Craig but who also has an engine on him.
See I was always good at running (still am), and can do sprints as well as long distances, but my football/feet skills are non existent. So my roll would be some useless winger who runs around like a Headless chicken and is ****ing useless whenever he gets the ball. I think I've just described Wayne Fereday there.
