    Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
After 20 games we're 18th in the bottom division. Buckle has his supporters and his critics. Even some critics say it would be wrong to get rid as that would cause further upset and turmoil. I've said before that I don't criticize the board for appointing him. He seemed to be a good choice.
    BUT...
If you could turn the clock back would you appoint him knowing what you know now ?
    I wouldn't................why?
    * he raised expectations then backtracked
    * he criticised the fans openly and behind closed doors
    * many backroom staff are demoralised by his attitude and 'high maintenance'
    * His selections, particularly early in the season, were questionable (McGleish MF)
    * the way he has dealt with the Campbell situation, though there are faults on both sides
Ah well...we're stuck with him for the moment.

Problem is Pirate, we would have probably ended up with someone just as bad. He seemed like the best choice from a bad bunch. I would have loved Blackwell or Reid, but in truth Buckle is probably the best we could attract.

I take your point Chris...but what concerns me is what is happening to our club as a totality.
We're in a poor position in the league, but we've also got issues OFF the field.
Any other manager, I feel, would not have created those divisions.

Probably not Pirate, you are right. Buckle is a first class ****, but he is our manager and its probably better to try to get behind him now, see if we can make on the field matters any better....Off the field will probably be the end of this club though, but hopefully Higgs knows what is going on and either agrees with it being what is needed in the long run, or he will sack the ****er if he dont like what he sees.... I hope thats the case anyway!

I think at the time Buckle was probably seen as a good prospect. He had shown a certain amount of the right sort of ability. He was a good prospect as a young 'up and comer'. I would have preferred someone in his category to another of the old hacks who have bounced from pillar to post. I think we must now realise that the man is young and inexperienced and is learning his trade the hard way. He has clearly upset a lot of people in his five minutes at the helm. I hope he will have learned from the mistakes he has made and become one of the feisty, awkward, but successful bathstewards who doesnt give a toss for anyone else. But who gives total backing to his players, his supporters and his club. Oh and also get bit more lucky! Of course the more you practise the RIGHT things the luckier you get!

I said he should be given around 20 games and let's face it it's not pretty reading. Sorry the twat has to go. Penney was given 12 games last year and jettisoned when it wasn't working. Surely to God our local derby next season can't be with Forest Green which is highly likely with Buckle.

I was listening to Buckles interview on Radio Bristol today and honestly during his answers he stated these facts (if you don't believe me re-run it on play back)...

Remember, the "gasheads" have just lost 4-1 and are 18th in the 4th (bottom) tier..

    Buckle..

    * We were all over Gillingham absolutely all over them..
    * We were on top, massively on top..
    * Played some incredible football..

and the "gashead" match commentator said..." The "gasheads" are close to a good, footballing side "

    You couldn't make it up....<laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>
