.......... you'll get the same 'punishment' as the assailant! https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway...ed-for-their-part-in-shrewsbury-brawl-255716/ The scene was a farce. The situation arose because the referee forgot that he had already booked a Shrewsbury player - and didn't (initially) give a red card - until he was reminded by Raynor - who had every right to be 'upset' at the incompetence of the Officials..... (( it would seem that all 4 of the Officials couldn't count to 2 (yellow cards.)) I won't comment on the 'evidence' relating to the actual charges - but I am surprised that GFC had failed to produce evidence to the FA to support its' not guilty plea to one of the charges..... Was this an administration error by the Club - the report states that the Club was 'represented' by Mr. Scally - (( is he a lawyer ? )) I am surprised that the referee ( and presumably the other 'Officials' ), were not present at the hearing - surely they were principle witnesses - who are required in any 'not guilty' plea in a Court of Law ! I am surprised that Steve Evans was not 'permitted' to give evidence at the hearing. Surely he was a 'principle' defendant in the matter .... and, in a Court of Law, every defendant has the 'right' to be heard. I wasn't surprised that Shrewsbury admitted the one charge against the Club - but - I was a little surprised that Shrewsbury were fined the same amount as Gills - especially when the video clearly shows that their sub goalkeeper committed a fairly aggressive physical assault on Paul Raynor -- who, clearly acted fairly passively in defending himself............ So - where was the punishment for the Shrewsbury player for his violence ? - please don't tell me that it was ONLY a 3 match ban - for his ( eventual ) second yellow card... which he could have got for merely time wasting ! What action (if any), has been taken against the Officials - for their incompetence ( which instigated the emotions on display. ) THAT aspect deserves an explanation from the FA. I can't have a lot of sympathy for our management team - they do have 'previous' for 'winding-up' the Officials - but it is NOT JUSTICE when Gills receive a punishment when Raynor is trying to defend himself ( passively ), from a criminal assault. The 'Law' in this case, was administered by an ass - coming straight out of its' arse................................ .......................ps - bang goes the player budget for January ( and next August ! )
The FA like any authoritarian body only answers to itself and like a lot of referees are 'always right'.....even when they're wrong.
gioblues The 'amount' is fairly academic..... The fact is that the Shrewsbury sub-keeper got only a 3 match ban for a criminal assault.... A player can get the same 'punishment' for a red card following an unintentional mistimed tackle.. ..... How could the FA not see the assault on Raynor - who is shown to be making a 'poor' attempt to 'defend himself.'.... Raynor pointed out the incompetence of the referee - and get's attacked..... Then his attacker is given only a 3 game ban (( in matches he would have been unlikely to play )) - and the incompetent Officials are unaccountable !!. I haven't got a problem with 'appropriate' punishment for both clubs - with 'appropriate' individual punishments - but that must also include the Officials - and where a physical assault has occurred - it should not be treated as the same as a mistimed tackle.................................. ................. Robber : '' I'm sorry, the gun in my hand 'went off' by accident.'' Judge : '' OK, don't let it happen again - now you can go to your room with no television for you tonight.'' Judge - to 'shot' victim : '' Will you please stop bleeding - you're making a mess - you'll have to pay to get everything cleaned.''
