Are you going to celebrate Christmas ? If so, why - surely that would be hypocritical. For the record - I will endeavour to celebrate Christmas as the birthday of Jesus Christ.
What part of the christian faith says jesus leaves presents under the tree? you do not have religion to believe in christmas.
I will be buying presents for my loved ones, and I am an atheist. It has become a tradition, not a part of faith.
Yes it is, it celebrates the birth of Christ... No-one knows when Jseus' real birthday actually was, and tbh it doesn't really matter. As long as it is remembered, and celebrated that's fine. Easter moves around every year, does it really matter when the real date is?
And whats more I am hypocritical about it. Its about the celebration of the birth of Christ and I donteven know if he ever existed. ****inhilarious the plebs on here.
Christmas is the Christian hijacking of the traditional and/or Pagan winter festivals. Virtually all of the traditions were stolen from elsewhere, especially the Romans.
A tad harsh. I was asking the question because of the amount of anti - God posts that we've had lately - and looking to see how the athiests could justify partaking in what is globally considered to be a religious festival.
You are aware that originally, Christmas was the Pagan festival of Yule, to celebrate the winter solstice?
If there is a god, then who created him? And who created the God that created the other God? I couldn't give a **** about religion, but i do care for presents and alcohol, that's why i celebrate Christmas.
It's now a consumerist excuse for family gatherings and time off work, for the most part. The symbol seems to have become Coke's vision of Santa Claus, more than anything.
is that true though? because the traditional winter solstice would not be on december 25th anymore, as months/days have since been added
