Fonte or Hooiveld , myself I would play this formation and see what happens

    Davies
    Clyne Yoshida Shaw
    Puncheon Ramirez Davis Schneiderlin Lallana
    Lee
    Lambert

This is mild humour or even supposed by the way.........................

Doubt he will start in this one. Would imagine that Fonte/Hooiveld will get one last kick, and if one under-performs, they'll be on the bench a week later.

I'd play a back four of Fonte, Fox, Benali and Titus Bramble, with a pissed Lundekvam on the bench.

I'd just add Yoshida and hope they don't notice we have twelve players on the pitch.

You'd play with 1 centre back? 3 at the back formations are ALWAYS 3 centre backs. With wing backs play in the positions you've put Puncheon and Lallana

No, don't worry. Some of us actually read to the end of posts. You carry on with the mild humour. Other people will catch on eventually. :)

He's saying he wishes we could drop both. I personally think Fonte should play as he's had a decent start to the season. Jos has conceded two penalties already.

How come so many Saints supporters rate Benali. Worst fullback i have ever seen playing for Saints( sorry just remembered Joe Kirkup). He only stayed loyal because no other manager wanted him. I went to Stamford Bridge in the 90's with some Chelsea mates when i lived and worked in London and his performance at left-back against Gillet was bl**dy embaressing, i had to sit among them and cringed the whole match. He was Bl**dy useless, god knows how he played so many games. Then again i remember Hugh Fisher. TIME TO DUCK.

Hooiveld hasn't done a lot wrong. One dodgy tackly when the whole back line were sold short by a bad pass out from Kelvin. His passing, reading of the game and aerial work have been pretty much what you'd expect from him. Defenders can't be everywhere at once and strikers will find gaps in between them. defending is as much about mifielders and fullbacks cutting the ball out at source as it is about centre halves cutting chances out.

This is true, it's such a shame that the majority of boo-boys have the sheep mentality, once someone decides a player is rubbish no matter how well he performs he'll never be good enough. Unfortunately for Fonte he has fallen victim. He's no worse than Jos, he's actually better if anything.

Fonte was poor towards the end of last season, bar a couple of games, but clearly that was just poor form. We've seen enough of him to know that he's a good player on his day.

I think Jos was on top form for most of last season, and that was probably the best that he can be. He's not technically brilliant, but it seems his mentality gets him a long way. He needs to keep his head and not get overwhelmed, because he's pretty slow and he will be bringing players down.

No one is playing 3 at the back like that..You'd play 3 CB's with wing backs

I'd definitely drop Hoovield who has been extremely shaky and careless. I'd also bring in Richardson at RB for Clyne who has zero end product not to mention him being poor defensively

Why are you making excuses for Hoovield? He's made two incredible stupid tackles conceding penalties. Very very clumsy

Just because he's conceded two penalties doesn't mean he's awful. Davis has saved two, is he going to give Joe Hart a run for his money?
