Could we POTENTIALLY struggle to hang onto the following players?

    - Bishop
    - Mings
    - McGoldrick

I just wondered if Bishop + Mings continue their development ( £10 mill my ass for Tyrone! ) could they all be off to a new club if we didn't go up?

I'm not stating I think we're going to go up, I think we'll 100% be top 10 ( such a tough league ) but we do for the first time in years have a decent side. Could the squad potentially be broken up?

I think Smith/ Berra/ Murphy and the rest would be more than happy to stay to give it another crack! Thoughts?

Good Qs Westy - How old is McG out of interest? There are many factors that result in players moving up to Prem level.

Their old-fashioned loyalty to club - quite high at moment, great team morale, respect for MM and what he has done with them.

Money...filthy lucre, I actually dont think this applies to these 3

Promise of Prem football experience, star dust, a career move up - would any of these 3 actially be guaranteed a place in a Prem team?! Big risk, big turn-off if no regular games - disenchantment soon sets in...

Domestic, family stuff - perhaps their families are so happy, love Suffolk and dont yearn for big city lights

While the chance to rub shoulders with more talented players surely appeals, as does the undoubted skills development to their all round game, there is never a guarantee of regular games.

Some players know their own levels - some even accept they wont go further - who needs to on 10,20...30k a week!?

Many accept the old adage Better the devil you know...and MM aint no devil!

Everything changes, nothing stays the same.
The test is how we deal with it.

Good thread Westy. Should we not make the step up it will be inevitable that clubs will come sniffing for our stars. Ty mentioned already obviously,Teddy if he keeps performing, same as Dids and who's to say Berra won't be snaffled up,arguably the best cb in the league. What it will do with the youngsters is see if its money they want and warming a seat for most of a season or 2 or do they want to continue to play football regularly and hone their skills further. The lure of training, playing with world class players would be tempting,as would playing under some top coaches/managers. I would love to say that they can see things happening at our little club and want to see it thru.
    All hypothetical of course.

I think we have age on our side for Berra coupled with his lack of pace, which may put many off at top level. That said, it's worked alright for Gareth Macauley!

Again I think we'd be in luck with Murphy and others.

I don't mean to be doom and gloom, I was thinking this. I'm sure we'll turn down bids in January, and it appears we're committed to giving this season a very good go. I really do feel we have half a chance this season, however results fluctuate a ridiculous amount. I didn't foresee Forest/ Norwich skydiving. I think they'll both pick up for sure. Such an interesting league this!

We are in a position where we don't need a fire sale of our players, so the interest that will come could prove quite lucrative if we do decide to sell. Wouldn't want it to happen but it's a nice question to be asking, when was the last time (ignoring the prolonged Cressy transfer saga) that, according to the media, we had a team of players that premier league teams were queuing up to bid for?
