Would you want us to take the Swansea approach of fluidity and 4-3-3 or the Norwich approach of stick to what you know and 4-4-2. Both sides have profited from lower league acquisitions, Norwich more so signing Pilkington, Howson, Bennett, Morrison to name but a few whilst Swansea signed Graham and then looked abroad. If we took the Norwich approach who would you want from this league? Obviously Wittingham would be nice and I also like the look of Joe Mason. Assuming Reading go up and forgetting their players, we could have a look at Snodgrass, Phillips, Williams & Bennett (Boro) all of them could make the step up I expect and their young enough to be moulded into the Adkins way. Hard to know what our level of European signing would be but Sigurdsson is only on loan and is an absolute class player but we might be able to attract full internationals. Anyway I'd be very interested to know what your individual strategies would be in the market and what you think we'll do (future tense instead of conditional ). I suspect we will look at 1/2 Championship players and then look abroad/to relegated teams so more like Swansea. I think we'd stick to 4-4-2 at home as well. Adkins seems keener to revert to a diamond than a 4-3-3 but I'd suggest we'd have to work on that if we want to be able to contain the big boys on a regular basis. Thoughts? And don't say I'm getting ahead of myself because I know for a fact we're all dreaming, might as well discuss the dreams!
A mix of both which is what we try to do at the moment. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Wittingham definitely, Hoylett from Blackburn? Fletcher from Wolves? Phil Jones from Man U. lol Snodgrass would be good and is a hard worker to boot. Future captain once Fonte and Lambert are in the coaching team. I think Strategy will be to get quality from abroad at cheapish prices around 27+ in age so that they can hold the fort for some of our youngsters while they develop.
Nothing wrong with speculating Trixter. We know it's still a big IF and it oculd all come tumbling down but these are only words and not warranting a premature assumption of promotion to ask the question nor answer it
If we go up then we don´t have to go mad and start trying to sign every decent player we think we can get our hands on!...I believe our squad is big enough and has the right amount of quality to be able to hold our own in the premier league. I don´t like the idea of us getting rid of players that have worked hard to get us to where we are over the last few seasons.
