The team will be cut in size with some of the not so good players leaving. There may be three or four new players arrive, not all from Udinese or Grenada.
Actually I think very few other than changes to the playing staff, forced or to strengthen the team. I have always seen this year as setting the foundations for the future by the Pozzo's so why would they change anything? None of us, including the Pozzo's expected us to be challenging for the Premiership this year so if they were serious about Watford - and it seems they are - they will have a medium to long term business/football plan, which if we do get promotion will need revising and additional investment.
I agree. I can see a lot of the fringe players leaving, but I can also see many of the loan players staying, including Vydra. Defence may need to be strengthened since Hoban is injured, Onesize is prone to injury and cassetti is not getting any younger. I suggest we also need some additional fire power up front to compliment FF, MV and TD, because at the moment I'm not sure if Hey Ho is up to it. I think we can safely say that there will be no new stand, but if we can kick off with some momentum we could start planning for this much earlier than we could this season.
Zola sacked !! Could lose Vydra if a silly bid comes in . Heard rumours we will try and buy Chalobah but failing that good chance of having him on loan for another season.
If we go up I can see Chalobah staying in loan, if not i can see him going to another premier league club on loan. Would love him to stay though, whatever happens on Monday.
Has he got a realistic chance at Chelsea? Is he that comfortable at Watford that he would possible drop a division to stay with you and hopefully move up with you? I know it is slightly different, because Huckerby was older and possibly wiser, but when Huckerby was on loan with us, he actually took a pay cut and dropped a division, because he wanted to be with us.
I think quite a few will be after Chalobah in the summer. It's clear that the lad has enjoyed his time with us , loves working with Zola and has benefited from plenty of game time and good coaching but whether that is enough to keep hold of him long term who knows. Was rumoured we made a bid for him in the January transfer windows
Unfortunately, we are going to see this as a real challenge now. We have a bit less time, but I am sure the Pozzos have considered this happening. A few ins and outs, next season is ON.
But what we going to if we are banned from making transfers and only have 14 players next season? Oh I forgot, that's bollox!! Onwards and upwards next season.
Right, I've had time to thing about this in a bit more depth. Probable outs from those around out starting squad, Chabolah (and I really do think that we need to keep him), Vydra and I honestly feel that is it. Although, I'll definately be proved wrong. Now, how do we need to build, iF the above tow go then some work will be needed to keep the squad up to its current standards. If they stay, I'd like another good striker, Geijo can go for all his efforts as in my humble opinion a striker needs to find the net on a decent basis. A new CH as FH, despite his talent hasn't got a hamstring. Seriously though, I really don't know what will happen. However, how the Pozzos set us up for the start of next season in the Championship might go a long way to show whether their intentions match their words.
Message from Zola to the fans on the Watford FC website. True gentleman and proud to have him at our club. http://mobile.watfordfc.co.uk/news/...ace-message-835774.aspx?pd=635052906000000000
Not sure I agree with you there, Mex - I suspect a far bigger clear out is in the offing - or were you just referring to the so-called loanees? I think that most of the 'old guard' will move on - Dickinson, Yeates, Eustace, Hall etc - along with some of the untried younger players and possibly Cassetti and Geijo. We may even see a fresh influx from abroad that means many of our current first team become squad players only..... Regardless of how good each individual has been in our eyes this season, the simple fact is that some weren't quite up to the job - far too many off days during the season which cost us dearly in the end.
