I've made it public too so we can discount any Mackem votes.

I've voted Spurs as the Mackem game is just 3 points at the end of the day. Beat spurs and we are one game from Wembley and 2 games from Europe.

Spurs, can't remember the last time we reached a semi final.

Counts for nothing unless we win it though.

Has to be the Spurs game for me. It's the chance of silverware. We should always be aiming for that as far as I'm concerned.

Even with the recent losses we're still well ahead of Sunderland in the head to head, but we'll never get a trophy for that.

Got to be the Spuds, the Mackems are totally irrelevant in life's great tapestry.

If we won the cup, we'd probably get less money (well, Ashley will get less money) than we would if we got an extra couple of places higher in the league with 3 points. We'd also have to play in Europe, our policy to which will not change, and we'll be in for another terrible terrible season next year. And this is the league cup. If you want to show ambition, desire, let it not be for a tinpot trophy, it's hardly a brag. It'd be nice, but not the be all and end all, not the big trophy us fans actually want. If that's your level, we won the Intertoto, console yourself with that. Wembley is ****ing miles away. You really want to spend £100 on a ticket and £200 on travel costs to see us play for the ****ing worthless cup? I know we're mags, but this is not an anything shiny will do kind of deal.

A win will give you a chance of that.

At least with a win over the Mackems we actually physically get something tangible. 3 points, and bragging rights, and more importantly, an end to their bragging rights.

Yes. Yes I would. Except it's not worthless. It may be third of three in the trophy table but at least it is third, not nowhere.

That's not to say I don't want to beat 5under1and as I definitely do but the question was one or the other and for the increased chance of winning a trophy which counts for something I would take a loss against 5under1and if it meant I was one step closer to seeing the Toon win something which counts which in my 56 years of being on this planet I have yet to see in person.

It's so straight forward beating sunderland is priority as I for one would rather talk about winning the derby games then having zero silverware at the end of it and losing again to them.

I just can't see it. It's the cup the winner usually picks up by default, due to their reserves being the best. If we lose after Spurs, it means absolutely nowt. Whereas beating the Mackems definitely goes down in history. If this were a Mackems vs Winning the Cup, the latter might edge it, but barely. But it isn't!

Beat the c**ts. Even if we beat Spurs we will lose in the semi's. I really want to put those bastards to the f**ing sword this weekend far, far more.

Spurs. I really want us to get to that final. I just think you don't pass up the opportunity of a semi final for 3 points when its not as if we are in a load of trouble in the league. Don't get me wrong. Not sure I can take another derby day nightmare again but I also don't think we should put out a lesser team in the cup. Thats two bit club mentality if you ask me where the most important thing is beating your local rivals when you have got the chance of a domestic trophy.

The flip side of course is that most Mackems see us as their cup final.

Exactly my point. We would be stooping to their level if we don't consider spurs the bigger game.

Since we are in the realms of hypotheticals, would people take a draw against the Mackems if it meant we won against Spurs?

Quite frankly, what I would like is to try to win both games with strong teams put out in each. I think there will have to be some squad rotation but there aren't that many options available to the manager anyway.

This isn't fair. I know the PC answer is Spurs but the Derby could be the only game I get to this season and I really don't want to see us lose that. So the only solution is extra time and penalties at Spurs which reach 30-30 when authorities decide they will have to play a replay as the last tube train is about to go. Of course we played our U21 side so all the first team are rested for Saturday. Surely that should be an option.

And even more rested by Sunday. I am not going to be like the guy at Burnley.
