They also allude to the "N" word and no mention that rappers and many black Americans use the term amongst themselves. agree with iti, in life, you get the people who integrate and you can have a laugh with them without having to be PC all the time, with others your be on edge all the time, having to be careful what you say - and in constant fear of being accused of saying something racist...... and people like jason roberts, jason brown (anyone see him on the footballers football show bullying the other panellists?) and the lawyer in question come in to the second category....... i find the whole thing boring, i've had abuse in the past for my skin colour as its quite pale, yet if i respond in the same fashion and say something about black / asian peoples skin only one is racist....... bored to death of this whole thing and people all jostling to be heard.......

I hardly think that forming an Union of Black Footballers is in iteself racist, Blue. There are reasons for doing so, and to suggest that it's racist is to misunderstand matters of race and division completely. CVDBluebird actually goes as far as to call it apartheid. WHAT? Come on, man. This is glin nonsense. Black players have been subject o such abuse that they have every right to come together to discuss the best way forward for them within the game. We've come a long way but we're still way behind. One need only look at the general forum on this site. I protested as a post and was immediately shot down with the vilest racist terms I've heard in a long time. As for the lawyer, Pater herbert: he's stupid and naive. There's nothing wrong with 'getting your retaliation in first, as we do at CCS when we shout 'sheepshaggers'. Incidentally, there's also a misunderstanding of the word racist as well. We are the same race as the English, whether we like it or not. Anyway, I'll stop there.
Points taken Glam but imagine the outcry if a White Footballers Union was formed or awards were given solely to Music of White Origin (MOWO's as opposed to MOBO's)? Is it okay for minority cliques to form their own cloiseted societies to the exclusion of others? As far as Spurs fans are concerned they can chant "Yid Army" or something similar about themselves whether they are of Jewish origin or not. I'm not Jewish but have been there and joined in. I'm sure we have English born fans who join in our "sheep sha££er" chants. Perhaps I'm naive but aren't we all in this together? I don't condone racist chants in any way when directed outwards (including our own anti-English stuff) but for Spurs and Cardiff fans the use of chants about themselves is about identity and also showing they are not afraid to take the pi$$ out of themselves. The way this country is going there will soon be no such thing as humour or banter as everyone will be afraid to say anything with any possible chance of upsetting some minority or even majority who will then resort to the law to get compensation for their hurt feelings - bless!!!!.
Glamorgan, You seem a sensible and intelligent person, IMO to segregate or place into a group is Apartheid. How would it be seen if the FA said, we are creating a union just for black footballers ????
The mere concept of a Black Players Union is divisive and self defeating. For a barrister, this Herbert seems remarkably dim. He also doesn't seem to be very black. Maybe he should start a Beige Players Union instead. I've actually just launched the Overweight Players Union, I think it's disgusting that just because a player drinks too much and isn't very good, he's excluded from playing in the first 85 minutes of every veterans Sunday league game. This happens to be a campaign very close to my heart, as I only got 15 minutes playing time in the first five games of the Hull & District Veterans League last season, resulting in me storming off and calling all my mates ****ers. I was the team sponsor, so now they're really ****ed and it serves them right. Splitters.

Yes, all very amusing, I'm sure. However, the differecne is that black players have been the subject of taunts, the hurling of bananas etc. All this in front of 60,000 people. This is humiliating, degrading, vile and hateful. The players involved have every right to discuss these matters amongst themselves if they so wish. To describe is as apartheid is - with respect — to mistake the term 'apartheid' in very simplistic terms. You may think that it's self-ghettosing but that's a very different matter. I really think it's very important for us to try and understand these very important matters and not talk of them in simplistic terms. That loathsome git in charge of the BNP (I can't be beothered to look up the ****er's name, he's not worth it) actually started talking about the Music of White ORigin award!!! It shoul perhaps have been pointed out to him that almost all white music is actually of black origin... A sweeping statement? On closer examination, he's find that it isn't.
