Do you guys think ME should throw money at trying to get promoted and bring in a few better quality players? It worked before when we brought Marcus Stewart during the Jan transfer window!! If so, what positions need strengthening? Personally i think SEB would be good as long as fit, saying that its.low risk. Would like to see Mick get Stearman in if poss. Have been pleased with recent results, if not performances and MM is winning me round.
I would to see some strengthing to the squad to see us through the season, we need to improve but mustn't lose the togetherness which has got us this far. Defensively we need to bulk up in numbers, perhaps a RB and another CB. creative CM would be nice or someone to play up top so didsy can drop off and play properly in the hole.
Stearman is a no go for me.... he's not a right back and we already have a centre back covering at right back in the team.. I'd much rather see Hewitt given a run out with Chambo & Skuse able to cover in if necessary It will be interesting to see what happens with Tunners as his loan ends 2nd January... will we extend it or look elsewhere... I'd be inclined to suggest that we should look elsewhere & bring in a more 'box to box' midfielder but time will tell what Mick plans to do. I don't think we are desperate in many areas... perhaps a lack of depth in quality but we have a decent squad.. I would say we need a new Keeper but I'm happy to have Gerken in for the time being..
i'm all for making as few changes as possible. assuming seb is fit he will be a useful signing. championship is his level and could be the ideal foil for murphy(i'd like to see dids just behind them). i have a feeling Tunnicliffe will stay for season,if hunt stays,as it's looking thats a good move. a creative midfielder would be a good aquisition if possible but we still have wordy who imo is that man. all in all im pretty satisfied with our squad so can't see mick doing to much business.
I'm wondering if we might make tunners loan a permanent move either in Jan or the end of the season, lets face it I don't think he is ever going to be a Man Utd regular, yet he is definately going to be a very good Championship/Mid Prem player and i wouldn't think he is going to cost a huge amount.
Could end up being useful for the United squad then, Guru! Building the squad is a tough one, we could use some wingers but haven't been able to see Taylor play on all cylinders, Grahams just got here but is only on loan, Hunt would be a good signing BUT I would suggest he is on the way down in his career and would like to see us sign someone we can rely on for a good number of seasons. Creativity from Central Midfield - The role of Central Midfield in Mick's teams appears to be very similar to CD in the sense of Defence first, chip in with goals when/where they can. Hyam and Skuse have shown they can do this role well, and Skuse evidently has a good through ball in him, just need them to do it more often. Striker - I would suggest this as a priority, someone who could either turn "chances" into "were about to score" moments, or someone who could relied upon to have his boot in the right place at the right time to guide the ball into the net. Defence - At RB I am desperate to see Hewitt given a longer run, especially if we end up losing Cressy. That would also free up cover for CD -not a priority. Biggest signing we could have in the back four would be keeping hold of Cresswell. Keeper - Im happy with Gerken and Loach. The worry is, and the same can be said of the whole squad, although they are all playing well can they: 1. Develop further/get better? Cresswell, Smith, Hewitt and Mings are probably the only ones in the regualar first team picture that have potential for the future unfortunately resuts from the U21s and youths don't fill me with confidence. Only Marriott appears to have first team potential. (this is based purely on results, I dont get to read much information on performance) 2. Get us to finish any higher than 6th? Probably not
Just put some £££ on a donut bet. Us for promotion at 10-1. Obviously it'd be play offs or bust, but sod it. We've just signed Hunt AND E Banks Blake today. We have the best LB in the division, a reasonable defence, and a very hard working difficult to beat side. We really are improving under Mick and it's absolutely by a country mile the most happy I've been as a tractor boy since this time in 04/05. I have a feeling a couple more signings will be along the way in January too. COYB! O, look who we have next, our favourite team. WATFORD. Lets just get this guaranteed LOSS out the way so we can continue our good season.
SeB and SHunt are enough for me this season we have enough to trouble the top six and we have a good team spirit and togetherness so lets just keep a compact driven squad and keep moving forwards....
I think we lack quality in the squad, although the signings of Hunt and Blake add to it, although we'll have to wait to see if they can return to top form. I'm not overly bothered about throwing money at it to gain promotion, as I've said I'd rather keep slowly progressing this season and unless we can pick up a gem wait until the summer to get some signings. I think we lack quality in a few areas, particularly RM, we lack that creative spark in the centre and I'd say we also lack a decent target man upfront, although our quality in that area is certainly improving, I hope i'm wrong but it's looking harder and harder for Taylor to see a future here, I'm not sure where he'd fit in in Micks plans. As KOPR said in CM we lack any real creativity although I do think Skuse is capable he just doesn't have the desire to do it. I'd rather next year see us use Chambers as a CB and send Tunnicliffe back (we're well stocked in the positions he plays now), then give Hewitt a run in the team and perhaps give Marriott some game time. I'd rather that than us spend a load of money on trying to get instant success.
