......tell them to piss off, surely we have that right,we are a good club, well established, cracking owner, good management, well supported, reasonable facilities and a good future. If agents,show-offs,bigheads,prima-donnas,has beens lookig for a big pay-off are giving us a tough time tell them to do one,we as fans and supporters of our club have got to stay(as has been said) patient.. We have signed 4 new players plus Pearson,we have had a great pre-season warm up and smacked the "gasheads" regardless of their weakness's but ain't it a pain in the ass we can't sign our final 2 to complete the team build up... We are still Bristol City,a smallish club with big potential and if people like Buzsaky / Baldock hesitate to sign, for god sake tell them to piss off they're not worth the shirt,we don't have to go cap in hand,I'm with you Delboy, all the way...
Recent twitter..... @ArnyBCFC hearing that a deal that was previously agreed for Baldock has fallen through mate. Because the buying club backed out
I think we need to take stock of what's going on here and then re-evaluate. Baldock is currently a Premier League player and will be on wages commensurate with that status. Even before WHAM got promoted, he would have been on a decent wage. We will likely be offering nowhere near that amount. We don't know what the contractual terms of him leaving WHAM might be with regards to a payoff of some form but essentially the lad is being asked to play for a smaller team in a lower league for less money. Not really an attractive proposition for him. Let's be fair, very few of us would be willing to change employers under that scenario. Now let's bring into the equation the fact that footballers are generally massively overpaid and have a short career. We will still be offering a salary that most of us would bite hands off for and also the prospect of regular first team football which will not be on the table at WHAM. Regular football means the chance to put yourself in the "shop window" every week which offers future opportunities. At the end of the day, footballers are mercenaries and we've created that world for them. I would be thrilled if he joined us but the fact that it's dragging on does not make me hold anything against the lad - he's just playing the hand he's been dealt. The likes of John Ateyo are no more......
Have to say, I agree with Tampa on this one. Baldock is looking for another team to come in and bid for him where he could possibly keep the wages he is on at the moment. Or perhaps he trust his ability to break into the West Ham team. I would think Sam Wobblychops would be one of the first sacked managers next season. And maybe the next manager might use him. Lots of things that none of us know is going on, apart from Twitter rumours. The only thing that's worrying me is, if no other club comes in for him are we banking on the 2 minute you tube clip that he is not that good? If he comes I will support him, if not that's his decision.
Sorry to put you right Tampa....the correct spelling of the great man, is, ATYEO.......I wholeheartedly agree with you my friend !!
Thanks for the correction BJA. My dad, god rest his soul, would have kicked me in the nuts if he knew that I spelled Big John's name wrong. He was his hero......
Yea I take on board all of the thinking and would find it had to disagree but I still think a Louis,a Marv Elliott,Albert or Cunningham is worth investment and support instead of a bigheaded prima-donna costing the club ££££££££££'s....
Completely agree Wiz, don't want us being taken for a ride by agents or players. We have cut a load off the wage bill last season, even Ribeiro was on £4k p/w without ever being a regular! Hopefully we can make a couple more decent additions before the season starts.
