What would our team look like?

    Before signings obviously...

    ----------Mannone--------
    Jones--Oshea--Roberge-Pva
    ----------Bridcutt-----------
    ------Rodwell--Gomez-------
    Buckley--Mavrias--Watmore
    -----------Graham-----------

Don't know a great deal about the U21's but I'm sure a few would be promoted to the first team squad.

    Pantillimon
    Cattermole
    Larsson
    Johnson (pending)
    Giaccherini
    Wickham
    Fletcher
    Defoe

Would be sold on I think

    Coates
    Brown
    Reveliere
    Vergini
    Coates
    Alvarez

    Would all depart also.

The first thing I'd do is go after Frazier Campbell, he tears the championship up and he loves the club.

Let's hope it doesn't come to this but what if????

I think Catts and Wickham would stay, possibly Larson too.

Get Darryl Murphy back from Ipswich, Rodellaga from Fulham, Kenwyne jones from Cardiff ? and give Watmore and Agnew plenty of games next season.

We'll see what Ancelotti is really made of, managing that lot.

A season in the Championship is probably the only thing that will cut free the cancer that PDC and others have spoke of.

I'll likely get slated for saying this, but facts are facts so I hope I'll be excused for pointing them out. Bent has scored 10 in 13 games for Derby this season. If we go down, that's who I'd be trying for. The only problem is, I doubt if he'd come back here. But still, I'd try because 10 in 13 speaks for itself.

Don't mind admitting I love the championship virtually guarenteed 25 + wins instead of 5 or 6 happy nearly every week instead of crying and tearing your hair out. Happier still if we are nearer the top and playing for promotion, dont get me wrong would prefer to be in the premier if ( and thats a big if ) we could compete or play any type of decent football but apart from a couple of half seasons we have been **** and have been for as far back as i can remember.

The cancer everyone speaks of is a load of rubbish imo. We buy the wrong type/calibre of player needed to prosper in this league simple as. Our scouting network is a joke and always has been. That's the one common denominator throughout the years...

Bouncing back is not that easy, no guarantee it wont be 10 years or never, ask Leeds.

Aye you are right to be fare but you could of watched at least 200 + games that we had won instead of 50 <laugh>

Absolutely. Ask Brentford. They went down to Div. 2 in 1947, and haven't come back up yet! <yikes>

I think we'd always get back as we'd be a massive draw for players outside of the Premier League.

People can look at Leeds, Sheff Wed, Forset, City, but they, at least at the time of relegation, also had massive financial issues, we don't.

We'd be back, just no guarantee that it would be first time.

Of the U21s I'd say Watmore, Mandron, Robson, Agnew, Smith and Pickford could join the first team squad. Of those I'd say Watmore , Mandron and Smith could press for a starting place. Unfortunately I don't think any defenders are ready.

Agreed. PVA aside. If we keep him and we come straight back, the Championship could turn him into one damn fine Fullback.

Agree, had this convo the other day, if he's prepared to stay the season will do him no harm at all.

We need a RB of a similar ability though, that's for certain.

The championship was the making of some of our players (Enrique, Colo, Carroll, Gutierrez and Nolan all looked much better in the Prem for us than they had previously after a year in the lower league). However, you would need to come straight back up really as I think financially you would be in trouble with a couple of years down there (when parachute payments recede and then disappear). It's whether Short would be willing to speculate to accumulate - I would imagine he was though as it seems to be a good business decision.

You daft sods aren't going down this season. I know for certain I'll be watching another derby defeat in V-Joes living room next season!
