Fabregas out for £40m. Almunia out for £1m. Gotze in for £25m. I'm jumping on the bandwagon after last night but I have known him from before...honest! Mata in for £20m. Leaves us with £14m. We then find a little extra to buy Baines. Oh yes. The world would certainly be red and white if this were to happen.
Goetz and Mata, two more short attacking midfielders to add to Gervinho, Arshavin, Walcott, Chamberlain, Miyachi, Rosicky, Vela, Wilshere and co. We need to stop filling our team with airy-fairy flair players and buy some steel (see my other thread)! I want a centre back and a defensive midfielder, both big aggressive types and more cover up front in the form of a proper striker, not another short AM who 'isn't really a winger, isn't really a centre forward, isn't really a centre midfielder, but likes to play in the hole' which Goetz and Mata both are!!!
One big player and two more forwards who 'aren't really wingers, aren't really centre forwards, aren't really centre midfielders, but who both like to play in the hole' will leave us with exactly the same issues as last season. We need to drop one of our forwards for a more defensive player.
Mata is a winger who can also play central. Not a central player who can also play on the wing. With a back four of Sagna, Kompany, Vermaelen and Baines there would the quality defence. We wouldn't have the problems of last season.
Kompany's one of the best in the league. Unless Man City somehow sign Chielleni and Pique in the next week, or something, they're not gonna let him go.
