Ok firstly let me say i am very optimistic about our chances on saturday and i think we can get a result at Everton, but i thought it would be interesting to guage other fans views on what to do should we lose the next to games and concede 3.5 goals a game average that we have at the moment. So the sh#t hits the fan 6 games in 0 points 21 goals conceded but the performances havn't been that bad. the question is would you, A, leave things as they are say hits been a hard start we've been unlucky and NA needs more time. B, say NA needs to go he's not good enough and we are losing ground on other teams. C, say performances are good we're a threat going forward time to bring in a specialist defensive coach as arsenal have done and see if things improve over the next 6 games. My preference would be option C as long as the team is playing well, i think we have a front 5 or 6 that are good enough to score against any oppisition unfortunatly not one of them is the most defensive minded so the back 5 or 6 need to be well on there game for the full 95 minutes. I know how the fans feel about twitchy coming back but if the other option was donkey Adams as number 2 to NA and it gave NA more time to adapt to the premier league would he be welcomed or would the boo boys attack.
Mixture of A and C. The problems at the moment are the defence and the players' confidence in the system. The latter will come with time and if the former would improve by adding a specialist defensive coach then that's what we should do. Whether we get points or not, those will be the sticking points that we need to work on. Adkins must stay.
If we lose the next two games by wide margins people on here will be slitting their writs. Just remember where we were three years ago, have faith and enjoy the ride!! COYR!
Losing the next two games would be a disaster. That said, let's not turn it into a self fulfilling prophecy. Think positive!!!
I would not want him sacked at the moment solely on results , it would have to at this early stage be a host of things Leaking goals Defensive errors Scoring no goals Players not gelling Players unhappy If these came into consideration then I would if I was in charge not hesitate .
Strange place this forum so far only one poster has actually answered the question maybe thats why 9 times out of 10 on here things go off topic and turn nasty.
I'd have to say B and I've been one of the many "give him time" fellas, if we concede that much again and lose then he's got to go. Although I just can't imagine being managed by anyone else at the moment
if the **** hits the fan then i say turn the fan off and clean it thoroughly as well as the surrounding area of the fan which will note doubt have been showered with the ****.
C. Unless we're bottom at xmas. I just don't see the benefit of changing managers at this stage with transfer window closed. Adkins has done ever so well since taking over, he deserves a fair crack at the prem. We need stability, something we've not had for many years.
A. It's all happened the right way round. Morale will have taken a hit but Adkins and the team will have been reading gomarchingin's doses of realism and will be seeing the bigger picture. The team have had a rude awakening and will have endured a major shot of inferiority which will no doubt have the effect of alerting the manager and players who will react positively in tactics and training respectively. While we are rapidly raising our game to try and meet the standards of the three of four teams we have played, we come up against Aston Villa this Saturday.
Probably also important to identify the source of the said **** and ensure that further specimens of **** cannot hit the aforementioned fan. What does this mean for Nigel? I'm not quite sure.
