So... imagine for a minute that the fat man and his inept sidekick has never sullied our once great club. How do you think we would have fared in the past decade or so?
If you mean what would have happened if MA hadn't have bought the club I reckon we would be in the same place as Portsmouth.
We'd have gone into adminstration and docked points. Then to coin an old time phrase "we'll get relegated and sell all our best players" Chaos.
We'd never have been bought by Arabs, too restrictive on what they could do around the ground. The Man City package was a once in a lifetime - massive stadium, fit for purpose, at a fraction of what it should have cost, plus a tonne of already-flattened surrounding land. We'd have never been relegated, though. I think we may even have submitted further extension plans for SJP. Probably seen another semi-final or two, possibly a final. We seemed to rise, the dip, rise, then dipped again - I think we'd have risen again. We'd have done good things for the club with the money and bear in mind our debt would be either significantly lower or being used for decent players, given the rise of football income. All in all, we'd be nothing like the rotting carcass we have today. It would have taken a special kind of clown to send a club into administration with the TV money where it is. Not even Shep could've done that.
I’m starting to see a bit of sense in his comment a few years back when he said he would leave when we had one something. That’s never gonna happen so we’re stuck with him by the looks of it.
It's well possible that we could have had a few years in the Championship and by now would have been on the up. i.e. similar position to now but on the upward curve not the downward curve.
I dont know what all the fuss surrounding the fat man is about. I won the league under his ownership... in football manager
It really doesn’t matter what the fat man says, he changes his mind like the wind. Says he is going to stay, he is just as likely to go. Says he won’t spend, he’s likely to do just that. His words are like mist, they evaporate just like smoke. I doubt he even remembers half the **** he spouts. He will go one day and heaven knows the extent of the mess and carnage he will leave behind. I suspect that any new owner is going to have a massive clean up by way of a very expensive rebuild of not only the team, but the entire infrastructure of the club and training facilities. Maybe that’s part of why finding a buyer is proving so hard.
Here's a question ,would there ever be a time Newcastle move out of SJP,sell it and build a new stadium? I'm sure I read here that Ashley sold surrounding land that was supposed to be used for redevelopment, only a question mind.
