...in terms of players brought in. How would you rate our transfer window from 1 to 10

I have been impressed in general but we're still clearly lacking a proven goalscorer and a top class CB.

    5. What we have done so far is the bare minimum that was needed. The quality of players has been a positive but we have not yet replaced Remy and are not assured of the required haul of goals from any of our squad. Our central defence is also an area that MA seems happy to neglect.

7 for me. Happy with the players we've brought in, but there are two areas, striker and centre half which still need addressing. We had £32m from the sale of Cabaye and Debuchy. We haven't spent anything yet. A bid for Lakaku or similar should not be beyond the realms.

Edit: revised to a 5. We are still crying out for a striker. We're replacing, not improving.

Almost this. I voted 6 because it has exceeded my expectations but we are still one good striker short of a positive window

According to reports in Belgium Chelsea are asking for €28m for Lukaku. That is beyond the realms of possibility where MA is concerned.

It's exceeded my expectations too, but only because I was expecting it to be a 3 out of 10 rated transfer window. The need for guaranteed goals is so great that neglecting it would be another crazy MA gamble and put a real dampener on the good work that has been done.

Sign a proven goalscorer and the window is an 8/10.
    Add a good CB - 9/10.
    Add Grenier - 10/10.

6 for me. If we sign a proven 15-20 goal/season striker then it'd move up to an 8

4 for me - we have released a lot and signed so far some adequate replacements however, our first team still lacks a "Cabaye" player, a striker and a CB. Then we still have at least 3 positions where the squad is not upto standard.

Well based on how I thought the window was going to go at the start Of the window 10/10. But based on how much I think we need I'd say 7/10. I think well get one more striker in. I think were trying to free up some wages by dumping off wingers then well go for a good goalscorer.

Add a striker and that's enough. Though need defensive signings in future transfer windows.

I've gone 6. It would have been a 5 because I don't think we've done anything spectacular, but I expected far worse.

We are basically 3 players short of it being a terrific window though, having some proper depth and looking a bit threatening. I'd like to have seen more English players, but it was never going to happen. If we could get a striker of the top class variety, a quality centre back and a replacement for Cabaye.

    Shawcross
    Grenier
    Lukaku

    That'll do. :D

I think there is a good chance we won't be relegated as it stands though so that has to be a positive.

    Deffo 7 for me.
We're a stronger squad and I really didn't expect us to sign players like SDJ and Cabella.
If we were to sign one decent striker... I'd start geting excited.... if we also signed a CB I'd lock myself in a dark room.

Stronger than at the end of last season for sure, I'd have to question than being stronger than when we started last season though (Remy>Riviere, Cabaye>SDJ, Debuchy>Janmaat, Cabella>HBA)

The Remy comparison is a fair one but we'll see on the rest.
I loved Cabs to bits but he would go missing from time to time and often shirk a good challenge. I have a feeling that SDJ will tick most of the boxes and deliver 10+ goals a year.
There's something about him which reminds me of Robert Lee in his pomp.

Ffs 7 laughing my tits off

Are you all lacking enough omega 3 in your diet

Were actually worse squad wise and possibly quality you just assume the signings will be good in the premiership

No idea how anyone rates it over 5. We're marginally worse off in terms of quality and numbers, from the worst performing Newcastle side since Allardyce. We replaced Cabaye 4 months too late, with SDJ, swapped Benny for Cabella, Remy for Riviere, Perez for Ameobi, Janmaat for Debuchy and Colback for Gosling. Then we got rid of Marv, Jonas and some of the previously vaunted youth of Tav and Richardson among others.

We head into the season with Willo at the back and rumours of Janmaat being played at CB. We have not one player capable of delivering over 10 goals a season - take off those tinted specs before you even think about contesting that. Add Pardew into this heady mix and mediocrity beckons, at best, with the manager reverting to being utterly reliant on one or maybe two players to dig him out every week.
