Would he be the player to get the fastest 20 goals in a premier league/football league season? Who holds the record currently? Also who has been responsible for the most goals in a single season? Not just goals but also assists? Suarez currently has 17 goals and 10 assists so is involved in 27 goals [check my bad ass maths skills]. How many did Ronaldo get in the 07/08 season? Thought it would be an interesting one.
I did read somewhere that 'statistically' Suarez is the best player in the world right now. Messi may be injured but that's still a stat i'd be happy with
you want ME to google these things for you.. its not precisely hard to use google you know... http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/22774/cristiano-dos-santos-aveiro-ronaldo?cc=5739 everyone knows dixie dean socred 60 in a season...
Most goals in a season (42 games): 34, joint record: Andrew Cole (Newcastle United, 1993–94) Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers, 1994–95) Most goals in a season (38 games): 31, joint record: Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers, 1995–96) Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United, 2007–08) I could see Suarez beating the 42 game record, let alone the 38 game one.
Suarez has scored the joint most goals after 16 games with Andy Cole in the PL. Suarez only played 11 of those games though. In terms of goals to games he's way ahead of everyone I'd guess.
early days yet. enjoy the form he's in now and lets not get all carried away with the total in may... the total v cardiff is all i'm really interested in right now. Again i must ask.... who precisely will the PFA (and its hateful panel and publicity hound gordon taylor) the football writers and any other awards you want to mention give the awards to to avoid giving them to suarez. Is ANYONE in the prem or even in europe scoring as many or as varied... or indeed as classy... a set of goals and doing as much? I think aguero is quids in for all awards as the acceptable face for these clowns.
That was a Football Supporters Federation award (whatever that is). I suspect it'll be much harder for the FA and the some of the writers to swallow back their bile.
Me too, though I do find it interesting to see how those who have vilified him and called for him to be thrown out of English football will find a way to backtrack and say they've really admired him all along. Provided he doesn't eat someone or start WWIII before the end of the season, that is.
Surely you're incorrect, we are constantly informed that football did not exist until after Fergie won his first title with the Mancs. So the late great Dixie Dean wasted his time.
I think we've discussed this sort of thing before, saint. Journalists tend to just pander to public opinion; they fan the prevailing zeitgeist. If the majority of people are anti-Suarez, their articles will crucify him; if the majority are praising his play, their articles will lionize him. They just write what sells papers to be honest. I don't read much into any journalistic piece. Never have, never will. They are all ball-lickers.
as answered some fans gave him a award... he gets great press off it and there you go... new contract. get the FWA award and he'll get the golden balloon
