want to pay money for Walcott then they can have him! Arguably the most overrated player in the Premiership (despite the criticism). His attitude considering how ineffectual he is is nothing short of ludicrous. As far as I'm concerned he can **** off to the highest bidder!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure. Walcott drives me mad at times, but then he does have his moments. Against teams who sit deep, he can become pointless and when the passing was as slow as it was today from the whole team, then he really is ineffective. But on the counter and when we pass well, he can be dangerous. I would not be gutted if he left, but losing THREE first team players from last season is just damning and it's too much of a change.
Walcott is going to need a bit of time to adjust to the new players, he had a great understanding with van Persie and Song to a certain extent, but now they are both gone, and have more or less been replaced by Podolski/Giroud and Cazorla/new signing, he's going to need a bit of time.
Not much to it. Just that Wenger supposedly isn't certain whether he'll extend his contract. No quotes AFAIK.
Doesn't sound good then, regardless. Some may think Walcott is poor, I think he gives us a lot. Bad idea to sell unless he really wants to go. My verdict: I think he will stay. Someone said he still loves the club. So we will see.
eh, the report is dodgy: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...t-has-arsene-wenger-in-the-dark#ixzz23v0gg3Rv I think they've mixed quotes from different interviews to make it look worse than it is... ‘We are still trying to extend his deal,’ said Wenger. 'When a player doesn’t want to stay you either force him or you let him go.' (this one was said for RVP I think)
You're right, the two quotes are not related. The second is from the RVP saga. Typical rag scaremongering. What attitude is that exactly ?
I'm sick of people making issues out of nothing. Scum tabloids print this stuff, the less intelligent element believes it, then turn on our players because of it, which in turn may influence their decision to leave. Obviously can't be proven but I'm sure there are deliberate attempts to cause unrest at our club. Why do they never do this to Spurs or the Mancs? For example where did all the Song stuff come from- and was there even an issue until 'someone' said Barca were interested?
I think the AFCAMDEN guy was the one that started breaking the Song news. He does seem in the know though, probably knows someone from the staff. I was a bit skeptical about him in the past, but with all his correct reports now it would be too coincidental for him to be just another twitter wum.
It has nothing to do with interpretation of tabloid speculation, it is a simple objective truth: Walcott has not signed a new contract and the season has already begun.
I'm fine with players negotiating a good deal for them, as long as they're being reasonable. If everyone accepted anything they're given without involving their managers, clubs could abuse the situation. Obviously the players have done most of the abusing recently, but it can go the other way.
This is regularly done to us...the Berbatov transfer speculation went on for a whole season...Sky pundits (Jamie redknapp included) were saying he was a great fit for Man Utd a year before he went! The Bale rumours only stopped cos he signed a new contract but will re emerge next summer...VDV rumours are ongoing as are the defoe ones. We've had2 years of Modric rumours too. And the Michael Carrick sale happened after press rumours as did the keane one. The truth is that the buying club and the player who is moving and the agents involved go to the press to pressure the club into selling. We don't mind (as fans) when it benefits us .... we all knew that the Poldolski transfer (for Arsenal) and the Vertongen one (for spurs) was going to happen due to the press reports...so I guess we just need to suck it up when it don't benefit us.
And he is under contract and can sign an extension at any time, not when it pleases the fans who say he should. Just because he hasn't yet doesn't mean he is leaving.
I think that the RVP move is one that was a bit of a blw, but the Song move seems a little different. Wenger genuinely seems to have thought that Song was not working well and it was best to get rid of him. I can't say that we look short in midfield even wilth him gone. Walcott has always been negotiating and there doesn't seem to be any falling out between Wenger and Walcott. It genuinely looks like there is just some serious negotiating going on. I am not unhappy. If you read the press, we are selling our "Best Players", but these are the players that have delivered nothing in the last 7 years. A year ago you couldn't get another team's fans to say that RvP or Song could make it into their squad. Last year I forecast at work that RvP would be top scorer in the league and I had to listen to all kinds of abuse. "No really, come on, I know you are an Arsenal fan, but who is your real pick?" It's all just banter and wind up. We need to move on and let the players we have do their thing. The team looked really good against Sunderland. Excellent defence, just a little rusty and lacked match sharpness. They look like they need a couple more games to me.
