How about this? ----------------Szchesny----------------------- Sagna-------Miquel--------Koscielny------Gibbs ------------Song---------Arteta---------------- ------------------Rosicky------------------------ Oxo----------------------------------------Gervinho -------------------Walcott------------------------ Theo seems to have his shooting boots on at the moment, we should exploit it. With Gerv and Oxo on the wings and Rosicky behind him looking for through ball opportunities, he should get plenty of service.
Exactly what I said just a few minutes ago in another thread. Well said. Also, give that boy Ju Young Park a chance too,
RVP will play for sure. Regardless rosicky is out and he is going to play diaby in that role. Also I doubt he goes with miquel at cb
I don't think Walcott would be effective as a lone striker. On Sunday he benefitted from getting the ball whilst making a run from deeper, if you give him the ball with his back to goal or with a centre back close to him it means he can't use his best asset - pace. Liverpool also don't defend particularly far up the pitch that reduces his opportunity to get beyond them, I'd play Chamakh purely because I've only seen Park once or twice and have no recollection of what type of player he is.
Walcott will be fine as a striker, thats his main position He doesn't need to make runs from deep, he can make them off the shoulder of the last man, as long as he is spotted. But who on earth will spot him ? Arteta won't, Song might get lucky, you wouldn't want to put your eggs in that basket.
Runs off the shoulder are more difficult when the defence don't tend to push up so you'd need very accurate passes as well as Walcott having an excellent touch. Seems like a recipe for giving the ball away a lot to me so I'd keep him in the same roles he took up against us. Looks like RVP will be okay anyway.
Yeh i think that wenger will play both rvp and vermalen even if they are only 80% fit because i would rather them play tomorrow and miss the milan game tbh. Even though i am not walcott's biggest fan maybe it would be a good idea for him to play up front if rvp is out, the only thing though is that rvp is exceptional with his bak to goal and can both hold the ball up and bring others into play and even in the air he makes it difficult for defenders and obviously theo cannot offer us that but it will mean that we will be deadly on the counter attack with pace from all angles. And is rosicky definately out??? i know he picked up a knock on sunday but i didn't know that it was that serious, will be good to see diaby back.
I don't think Walcott can play through the middle and I don't think there is any way Wenger will play him through the middle in our formation. He just isn't physically strong enough at the moment, can't hold up the ball, and is going to struggle taking the ball under pressure. I don't see him winning too many headers either. Just inviting them to drop deep and sit.
He doesn't need to be strong, RVP is weak and never wins his tussles - often throwing his hands out to the ref in frustration. Being up front in the middle means he can run off either centre back on to through balls and kill them with his pace. We don't often play balls straight up to our striker, it is perfectly suited for Walcott.
