England. Nothing needs to be done, the grounds are ready, transport is great, you can drive from Manchester to London is a few hours so fans won't have far to travel and it won't cost them a lot, if it was in America or Australia you would have to fly. Accommodation is brilliant here and tourist spots are amazing. We are ready and waiting for a world cup and in my opinion, if England want to hold a World Cup then we hold it. We invented the game and have more of a right than the likes of Quatar and south Africa...
England weren't in the running for the 2022 World Cup, so it will never go to us, nor should it. I didn't mind Russia getting the World Cup before Sochi, but after the crap they pulled I think that FIFA would need to ensure that there are no human rights issues or issues with sexuality. I believe the USA bid was second to Qatar. However, I'd reopen it to a new vote. I'd prefer to see the Aussies get it because America had it in 1994, which is fairly recent in World Cup terms. On a similar note, the next time we think of applying for the World Cup we should just reuse the old bid, change the number, and send the winner of Britains Got Talent. All that money for a single vote (from our own representative) is criminal.
I think it should bE hosted by five football nations. England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland. Celtic Park, Lansdowne or Croke Park, Millennium, plus all the big English stadia.
It can't be held in Europe because the 2018 World Cup is in Russia. Blatter wants to hold it in the States - my vote is for Australia
Sony, Adidas, Coca-Cola, Visa and Hyundai/Kia have expressed concern over claims of wrongdoing in the bidding process. In total, five of Fifa's six main sponsors have issued statements relating to the Qatar bid. Only airline Emirates has so far declined to comment. As soon as sponsors make noises watch FIFA do something
USA did come 2nd in the voting, but I cant bring myself to support them. Not a great lover of the American way of life or culture despite having American relatives.
Australia's big problem is that the vast majority of Aussies cannot stick "Soccer" and think its a game for ****s compared to Aussie Rules and Rugby League. Travel distances between major cities for hosting is vast, us June & July is mid winter here, great climate for players, not so for tourists. The States will get it which is criminal as they only had it 20 years ago.
Not sure about the 'we invented the game' nonsense Shiny (sounds a bit like a Sun headline to me), but I agree, England is the obvious answer. As you say, we are virtually ready now for hosting it, and since 1966 the Mexicans have held it twice as have the Germans. No forgone conclusion that we will win it (Euro 96) but as we showed in 2012, we do know how to break new ground when holding these world events
