Who would you want to replace him?

Martinez would be mine as well. Highly underrated manager. Moyes is destined for greater things than us.

Well all things considered i don't think that anyone could do much worse a job, Martinez and a seperate defensive coach would be an absolute solution with Martinez in overall lead.

We have discuused this before Sgt and its a really difficult one. Who we would want and who would be best suited to our situation are two different things.

I mentioned on a thread along time ago that one of the main problems is that in an ironic way, TP has insured his job with his signings. He has a created a team that would not suit alot of new managers (although I think our Midfield is the strongest it has ever been) and they would in affect require a substantial budget to overhaul the issues. Most new managers would want to invest 2 x fullbacks (10 millions) at least one winger (7.5 millions) and at least one (if not two) strikers (at a combined 15-20 million). That would be a significant additional investment ontop of the 100 million (circa) spent.

Names that come to mind are; Moyes, Martinez, O'Neil and Redknapp or even Rafa? Warnock would be an interesting one for me but I think it would be more likely to be Hughes. He would be able to work with what TP has left and would be best suited, although I would view this as a sideways step - especially of TP remained with the club as some have suggested!

Weird this because I have just finished chopping the firewood for my log burner and was thinking the same question. My answer to myslef was Di Matteo. He could do a great job for us. After all he won the European Cup for Chelsea!!

I reckon Adkins too. Back to back promotions on a limited budget playing some great football!!

Benitez is quite chummy with the club. Would Coates at least try and see if he can dangle a good contract and transfer kitty in front of Rafa or would he not bother?

I'm not a fan myself but I think he would do quite a good job with what we have. For me (based on the fact that we wouldnt get Moyes) O'Neil did a fantastic job at Villa (3 years in 6th) and I really like Warnock.
