Would there be less hate for them on here today? People seem really angry, & want them shut down & packed off ASAP. Why? I don't want these criminals that own them to benefit anymore, but I also don't want to lose PFC as our rivals. After playing Brighton twice, I've actually come to respect pompey as a team. They didn't cheat or try to get our players sent off, they just played with the passion our derby games deserve. Think twice before wishing liquidation on a club, its not just not saintly, its actually pretty deplorable. Its the owners who have screwed football, not the fans. Don't make me post stuff like this, I've got a reputation to uphold.
People want them to pay there tax bill and small business's. People also feel they should be treated the same as Swindon, Bournemouth, Rotherham etc. SIMPLE AS THAT.
No they have been cheating. Paying for new players and not their tax bill. This Lampitt fella must of known about this. Points deduction asap. Set an example.
Of course Portsmouth need to be treated the same as other clubs, but I don't want to see them go out of business, in the same way that I don't want Darlington to go out of business. Obviously, because they are just down the road, and some of their supporters come on here to chat and exchange a few err... niceties, it makes the emotion all the keener. I want them to remain as rivals. However If, for some reason, it was impossible for them to exist, I would hope that fellow Saints supporters would welcome any Pompey fans, who were willing to move their support, to Saints. I certainly would.
I think morally the right thing to do is shut them down. I look at their financial status and they're just getting worse and worse off. Their fans mocked us so part of me is torn between wanting then to survive and wanting then to rot into the darkness...
Actually, I think you forget the history. Time was, when either set of supporters would go and watch each others home matches, while their teams played away. I'm sure there are still a few in today's supporters If you were thinking I meant the whole groundswell of Pompey supporters, then I think you've misunderstood the sentiment of my post.
I hate Pompey. Why was Benjani facing the wrong direction for the equaliser? Who the hell was closing down Conway? These mistakes need cutting out if we want to go up. Ok really, there is a tone of "they mocked us when we were in admin so I'm going to do the same" from some (young) posters. Which obviously makes you as bad as them.
Agreed. It is the mentality of the school playground. You'd hope adults would have actually grown into full maturity instead of just acquiring years of age.
A while back during one of our administrations, I forget which, some of the Pompey fans collected money and used this fund, to pay off the debt of the local charities that had been affected. It's funny, how often, people want to talk about the negatives, "All pompey fans are hooligans and thugs etc;" when the reality, as is always the case, when dealing with large groups, from all walks of life, is usually quite different.
No Pompey fan would support Saints or vice versa, but there are other teams, though sadly many will just lose heart with football.
I feel for the fans I really do, they support their local club and if I happened to be born in pompey(god forbid) I would be supporting them. However I think football is starting to loose plot the club and the owners need to know they need to run the buissiness properly otherwise this will only continue and more fans will suffer. They should be relegated and the owners never allowed to have any involvement with football again, including previous oweners who contributed to their dimise. I would never wish the death of a club on my worst enemy it means far more than non football people realise which is why it makes my blood boil when I see clubs ran poorly even including pompey. Good luck all pompey fans but im sorry I hope your made an example of but then rebuild from bottom up.
Beating cardiff wouldn't have changed the fact that it's a hooligan club... vile animals, I've never met a pompey fan that isn't one.
I should have written... I know of a Saints supporter who used to support Pompey, as I don't know him personally. Friend of a friend, etc.. He comes from a Saints supporting family, I believe, and just got overwhelmed by the sibling pressure, back in the 1980's. What I'm saying is, it does happen. I think he was from the Titchfield area, so you're right, Pompeymeowth.
