I saw that question posed by someone on the BBC live match-feed just before half-time today and thought it a very interesting question. On balance I would have to say that in the case of either of the alternatives I suspect we would be playing much, much better football.
Maybe right now we might be a little better off a few years down the line less so, neither has really shown great continuity, ultimatly the club wanted a long term manager and I have confidence that the right choice was made, a little short term pain is worth it for contnuity. To be fair to moyes all the problems had been left for him regarding certain parts of the team/squad, was he going to be able to fix this straight off, unlikely. Bit unlucky as well, hsd van persie been fit id imagine we would have at least 6 point in the leauge, we missed that killer blow we had with him in the team
Unless you got someone else in that liked to play with two wingers like Fergie did then it was always going to take time for the adjustments to take place no matter who came in.
Top with ease. We would also have signed quality midfielders. No doubt what so ever about that. We'd also be playing better football. Parking the bus is better than the ****ing dross on display at the minute. Awful stuff. Parking the bus is at least a ****ing tactic. The truth is we wouldnt need a Pep or Jose, a half dead jelly fish would be doing better.
He's gone now unfortunately. No manager could achieve what he did last year. You've be better, that is true with one of the better managers.
I count 4 home defeats that would likely never have happened under a top manager. Thats 12 points right there. 4 home defeats.... sorry.... 5. Saving grace is this ones in the FA Cup.
If you had Jose the football would be poorer but the results a lot better. But would you want your club to be associated with a series of dour 1-0 results? You've got too much of a tradition to endure that.
Not at all. Much rather we were associated with the high quality football we are playing now. 12 passes a game, 0 shots on target, valencias erm.... 'crosses' ( apparently ). Or perhaps going down Fergies route of recent years, winning tight games, often playing a little slow and negative but still winning games....... yeh........ I would take the dour 1-0 wins right now. Then build of th results and add the performances.
hmm, Jose is managing your team with a far better squad and you are still not top of the league so, you're half right maybe
Although I hate agreeing with you of all people I will admit that Jose has a knack of taking very talented footballers and making them play dire football. Just look at how **** Madrid were under his management. Jose just doesn't know what to do with an attacking side with flair other than to make 9 defenders a keeper and 1 forward out of them. It gets him points cant argue with that but the football to watch is like having your fingernails pulled out 1 by 1
No i'm totally right, this is the same Man Utd team walked the league last year. Also Chelsea's squad isn't that much better, for a start all of their strikers would walk into our team!!
When he won the league with Madrid they scored 121 goals in 38 games which was more than any team in la liga history. Sounds like he know exactly what to do with an attacking team!!
