If offered the straight choice...

Inspired by Blacks question in another thread. Simply choice between the two:

-Go down and win the Cup.

-Go out to City but stay up in 15th.

 

I chose stay up, but the reality is that it isn’t a choice between two unrelated events. If anything, getting to the cup final would galvanise our run in. We wouldn’t do a Wigan.

 

What makes you so sure?

 

I would always choose to stay up as I believe with a bit of tinkering we could be back to our best. We could win the cup and still slide into oblivion.

I reserve the right to have both of course.

 

100% win the cup. What is the biggest moment in our history? Is it surviving in the premier league or 1976

 

Yeah I understand that, I was just wondering what would people would choose if it came to it.

I'd rather win the Cup as at the end of the day, the Premier League comes and goes for clubs like us anyway and I would much rather win a trophy while we're here. That'd be a better memory of this stint here than finishing sixth. We spent 27 years in the top flight last time and the grand total of **** all.

Surely winning a trophy is the pinnacle for a club like us?

 

Undoubtedly true and could happen... but equally (playing devils advocate) we could stay up, but go down next year anyway and not be back for a decade or so?

 

Why is everyone saying choose between the 2? It's the quarter finals FFS not the final!!! Even if we did beat city we still have to beat whoever in the semis and even if we win that we still have to win the final. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

Let's all have give our heads a wobble shall we, we only just beat a WBA side in turmoil and who quite frankly did enough to win the game. 1 average win and everyone's living with the fairies again and everything's cushty.

WE ARE STILL IN THE **** , WITH THE SAME CLUELESS BOARD, WITH THE SAME CLOWN OF A MANAGER , EVERYONE WAS BITCHING ABOUT BEFORE THE WEEKEND.

No one is 'living with the fairies' ffs it's just thread to gauge opinion and debate the merits of trophy/PL place on a Sunday afternoon.

You could always ignore it...

 

I'd be fine with winning the Cup and getting relegated providing that it doesn't jeopardise our club in any significant way.

 

I think a lot of people assume that relegation automatically leads to financial troubles because of last time.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't this time round as we're on a much more sound financial footing.

 

Yeah I agree, if we were to get relegated it would be very different from the last time.
We'd have to do a lot of restructuring both on and off the pitch for sure though.

 

Why are we even debating it, it's not even close to happening is it, most pointless thread I think I've ever seen on this forum.

 

The new stadium debt was the reason that we nearly went bust last time.

I'm not scared of playing in The Championship, i'm pretty sure that we would win a few more matches there, quite bored of the PL this season tbh.
Obviously I would prefer to stay up though because it's important to be as successful as you can as a club.

 

Anyway mate, I don't wanna fall our with you over it or anything and clog **** up.

But if you seriously think it's pointless, then don't comment surely? It's not exactly rocket science.
