huge risk as he has never managed before but he is assistant at FC Twente and assistant for the Netherlands national team learning from one of the best managers in world football in Louis Van Gaal, yes he has not managed but if he came in and had a good experienced number 2 I don't see why it would be a bad move couldn't care less he played for them up the road the bloke was a top player, he will have very good contacts around europe especially back home in Holland and will bring the right idea's to modernize the club in terms of tactics and signing players. huge risk but one I would take obv. MoN is still in charge and I do hope he turns it round but if he doesn't then I would risk it on this man
I think MON should be given big money in January, and let players leave/loan out who he is not keen on. I wish Cattemole would get forward more, he would be a great player for us, like Malbranque was. I think Mon's job is not even half done yet in the transfer market.
thought of him and remembered he came close to being Villa manager in the summer, apparently he has done wonders at his current club
and why is that my friend, is it because you want to keep MoN which is fair enough as he deserves a chance to turn it around and as I said I would go for him IF MoN doesn't manage to turn it around Is it because he played for Newcastle? Do you think Kuivert gives 2 shiny ****** about Newcastle? Or is it because he hasn't managed? Everyone has to start somewere mate and he is learning from Louis Van Gaal one of the best managers in world football, I would certainly take a risk on him, I watched Leverkusen go away to Bayern last week and grab a victory and there manager is Sami Hypia, he never had any managerial experience before but is now managing one of the big teams in Germany some times it is worth taking a risk and it seems as though we have always been a club that has played it safe, maybe not with Keano but what have we done, **** all thats what. the club needs to evolve on the pitch, with fresh idea's and not playing it safe in the transfer window, lets go out there and bring in some gems.
if MON were to go (and I really hope he doesnt), I like the idea of a young upcoming manager, but someone with management experience, at least a bit.
Have to agree wholeheartedly with this comment - nothing to do with his Newcastle connections - simply because I don't think he's right to be a manager in the EPL
If were to think outside the box like this (and im not totally opposed to the idea), I would give Gary Neville a shot, that guy seriously knows his ****. Steve Clarke, Chris Hughton to name two who have done well managing first time out.
Pep Guardiola (Barca) Frank De Boer (Ajax) Sami Hypia (Leverkusen) Mauricio Pellegrini (Valencia) there is four off the top of my head, if they risk it and do it and they are huge clubs then why can't we?? another in Neill Lennon (Celtic)
Steve Clarke is a good shout, but is he still in his honeymoon period? Anyway, we have MON and we should be proud of that.
If we are going to go for new up and coming managers how about one of our own. please log in to view this image Not being 100% serious here as I do think we need to give MON some more time, but we all know its a results driven business, if they dont come, and come soon then...., but why not Phillips (I know it never seems to work, but there is the odd occasion it does, Keegan springs to mind 1st time around for it working, Shearer and Kevin Ball for it not.)
Its a good debate, we keep going for the named managers, who look safe bets but haven't really pushed us on to where we need to be. It was a 1st time out Roy Keane who took us from bottom to top of the championship, and then kept us in the premier. Bruce and O'Neill have bought us better players admittedly but still haven't got us much further up the table, which is what it's all about.
done wonders for this club and had no previous experience, the only time when we have taken a real gamble IMO whilst I have followed the club and it payed off, he got us promoted 1st attempt when we could of easily of kept dropping away and once we got up he kept us up
What about Frank Rijkaard, currently getting £9billion per second (approx..) to manage Saudi, but he hardly needs the cash, and may fancy the Premier League? Unlikely of course, but the fact he manages Saudi means surely not impossible. He might really fancy a pint, that may be the swinger!
O'Neill needs another six months. We won't go down. I just don't see it. He needs to sell a few people and spend about £10-15m in January and we'll be in a very good position. Don't question this as it's down to nothing other than blind faith and can't be justified in the slightest. Fingers crossed.
