Seeing as juv seemed to have cooled their interest that leaves the two manchester clubs. I would rather we sell him abroad but i am very much against him letting his contract running down. Given that these are the two viable options willing to pay something of a fair price who would you rather we sell to. I would rather man city simply because he won't add much to their team which currently boasts of aguero, balotelli and tevez and tbh i feel of those aguero and a level headed balotelli are going to be ahead of him in the pecking order.
Going to a rival EPL club is a **** move either way, more than any of the other players that have done that in recent years considering his history here. There's just about a single worse thing he could do than going to the Manchester clubs, and that's going to Spurs... so it's pretty low. I guess it could be said, however, that if he joins Man United it shows that he at least wants to play some part in the club's success, as opposed to just being a free rider.
Manchester City, he won't feature as much for them, he's inferior to Aguero, and they can hopefully offer enough money for us to get rid of him.
IMO RVP would be 1st choice level with Aguero, Balotelli would be behind Tevez but ahead of Dzeko. If RVP came to United he would be 2nd just behind Rooney but ahead of Welbeck, Hernandez and Berbatov ( he might be on his way though) but could see RVP and Rooney playing together regularly especially against our main rivals.
If i remember correctly fergie often plays two strikers with rooney playing just off welbeck at times so.it is plausible.
and if Song can provide him with them superb long passes then imagine what he could do if Scholes and Rooney do the same.
Im personally.more.worried about scholes passes.than.rooney who whilst possessing great passing range does.not.have the vision of scholes.
If we dont.sell him.he.will go a rival club on a free in.addition.to not playing his heart out.for the final year. I would rather we sell him for.a reasonable.sum and spend money on reinforcing the squad and tbh i dont think he will add much to city. Either way i find.it.hard to believe the board will let him run down his contract.
if he doesn't honour his contract and rakes up a fuss it will be equivalent to not having him as a striker. Not saying im expecting him to do that but you do have to concede he won't play to his full potential and nowhere near his current level. Instead of fining him why not get some cash to spend. Having cash is irrelevant as far as our board is concerned. Its more to do with how much proportion of cash they would like to retain.
Neither option is even slightly palatable. I dislike City for their appalling extravagance and further distortion of an already very warped market, not to mention that losing yet another player to them is simply unacceptable. Having said that, growing up in London in the mid nineties with armies of United fans (all claiming to have massive links to Manchester and the club-The Stretford End must have its own maternity hospital) picking on anyone who didn't follow their beloved team has left me with a real loathing of that club and all it stands for. But if it had to be either of the two, I'd choose City. He'd not necessarily get that much game time and for a man used to being a big fish, that would really teach him a lesson. Also, I think Ferguson would utilise him better than Mancini. If he does go, he'll be missed, for all of five minutes: We've lost players before, we'll lose them again. One greedy, injury prone Dutchman with one and a half good seasons will not warrant a statue.
I guess I will have to respectfully disagree with you then because I don't value half the quality of any player, messi aside, and it will disrupt team spirit not to mention ultimately weaken our chances of getting a trophy. I also believe Rvp will prefer staying in England as his family is well settled here whereas there is more chance of him moving abroad should we sell. At any rate we both have the clubs best interest at heart so we will just have to wait and see how things turn out.m
One and a half good seasons is perhaps underselling him, I'll grant you, but he's been out a lot. He's a magnificent player, no question, and of course I'd have liked him to stay, but I have to disagree with you wanting to keep him after his statement(although I understand the rationale). A person who doesn't want to be there is poison in any workplace.
Juventus haven't cooled their interest according to the Mirror http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/robin-van-persie-transfer-juventus-1190295
Well I'm just going from recent quoted from juv director but that may well have been a smoke screen or sign of respect. I genuinely hope if he goes though it is to juv for a decent fee.
The funny thing is, I generally agree with you. As I recall, it wasn't so much that he was injured a lot, but more that it was at really bad times (my memory's not the best, sue me!). And the thought of him going to either Manchester club makes me sick to my stomach. We'll certainly lose a lot if he goes, it'll be a big blow to the club, but if the player's made up his mind with only a year left, for whatever reasons, then it's a losing battle. If he were like Modric and had four years to go then it'd be different, but I seriously doubt that the club would turn down a decent fee for him given he could go for free. The middle ground probably would be to make sure he goes abroad-it'd send a message to City that they can't have anything they want, a message to our current players that Arsenal will decide where a player goes, not the player himself, and ensure that he won't come back to haunt us domestically. If we could recruit another solid striker then we could end up better off in that we have a more balanced team with a back-up plan should one player get injured (what would've happened had van Persie been injured last season?). But on the professional front, if one of my staff treated me with such disrespect, then no matter how valuable they were, they'd be dismissed. Honestly, I really have found in life that one rotten apple really can spoil the whole crop, and we've got some talented youngsters by the looks of things who we need to keep on track.
I actually think if he stays at Arsenal for another year he will play to his best purely so he can demmand decent wages at the end of next year.
