Will we of had a better season than them if we come 3rd?

We got further in the fa cup
They went out to palace in the league cup, we lost at the same stage to a full stregth city.
We both will get no title but auto cl qualification
We got out of our cl group which was far harder than theirs
We didnt embarras ourselves in the europa league

Not really, the point gap between them and us is pretty big and is a sign of their superior consistency.

    That's really clutching at straws!!

If that scenario happens, you're both come away with no trophies. The rest is irrelevant.

Nah, point difference for me shows the gap at the moment and that's despite me thinking their squad is their weakest for years. To be honest, considering their line-up I think they've done alright... annoyingly.

Seriously? No. Not at any time this season have we challenged. In fact, at one point, we were languishing in 6th/7th place....

Man U have done really well with the squad they have. It's not like there is a major difference in quality in our respective squads. In fact, our squads are on par if you make a comparison....

No tbh their season has been pretty immpressive with an average squad. Hate to.admit it.but very immpressed by what they acheived.

But has it been? Their whole season has depeneded on the league for a while.

If they dont win it and we come 3rd then whats the difference? 2nd and 3rd are identical in terms of what it results in.

And then throw in the fact we got further in the cup and didnt embarrass ourselves in europe (twice)

getting further in the cup means nothing..you win it or you dont.......that bit inbetween does not mean anything...would you say Liverpool who are currently 30 plus points behind 2nd plus 2 cup finals... have had a better season than United?

United prioritise and it shows....and rightly so considering where they are compared to the rest in terms of succes levels and expectancies.

How is that a bad thing? To me everything else is peripheral to the League.

  12. Dont think you can ignore the 20 point gap between the clubs. They have done a lot better than us this year.

Financially, making out of our CL group is probably better than that 20 point gap, but I agree with Jayram. If we had challenged for the title a bit this year, I wouldn't have been so bothered about the gap, but I think mounting some kind of a run at the epl title, even if it is ultimately unsuccessful, is required.
