That's not a reason though PNP. I think he's the sort of experienced coach we need. He did well at Liverpool and I think could do a good job for us.
its his personality, he strikes me as someone with a huge chip on his shoulder that will fall out with players, he will want to restructure the team, there will be lots of tinkering and he wont admit to his mistakes.
It's a reason for me not to want him at Spurs, though I understand that it's not a justification for anyone else. He's better than some of those that have been suggested, but his football tends to be rather negative and he seems to buy a lot of players. His expensive buys tend to be pretty successful (Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, etc.), but his cheaper players tend to flop. He flopped badly at Inter, but following on from Mourinho seems like a difficult thing to do. Not sure about his record for bringing through youth players, either. Seems like he's the favourite for the Chelsea job.
If he's as bad as you say then let him go to Chelsea. Inter is another hot potato like Chelsea after Mourinho and it would take somebody special to be successful there. I'm looking at his record for Liverpool and like it. O'Neill was out for a few months but has a job now so I don't see how being out for 15 months stands for much. I think we should give him a go IF Harry leaves.
In the case of O'Neill, I reckon he was in a holding pattern waiting for a certain job to become available (at a guess, either Man Utd or England) before deciding to go for Sunderland. However, despite the plaudits he receives, O'Neill has only ever managed clubs that punch above their weight or bottle it when the going gets tough (Leicester for the former, Villa for the latter), which made the Sunderland job appealing. The fact that several top jobs in England, Spain and Italy (as well as high-paid ones in France and Russia) have come and gone without Benitez being considered speaks volumes. His reputation for tinkering with the squad unnecessarily and using players out of position, as well as his iffy record in the transfer market, all count against him.
Ok,Kenny Dalglish was out for a long time and now Liverpool win a trophy. No manager is perfect. People complain that Mourinho's teams lack excitement but he gets trophies doesn't he?
Benitez's teams play **** football and can't win a trophy if the final doesn't have a penalty shoot-out.
Definitely not Benitez. The man is a Grade One clown. He managed to win a couple of things at 'Pool, but only because the club almost bankrupted itself spending £millions of the bank's money. When certain key players began to leave, Benitez fell apart, and he became a standing joke. If Benitez had been any good, he would have won a lot more with what he had. He didn't. I would be extremely disappointed if we went for Benitez. I'd rather have Alan Pardew, or even David Moyes over Benitez.
Personally, I think Benitez is a good tactician. He understands the game. However, his time at Liverpool would suggest that his man-management, and communication skills leave a lot to be desired. You have to be a good man-manager nowadays to be a successful Premier League manager. You are dealing with a bunch of multi millionaires, many of whom are Prima Donna's as well. The old "my way or the highway" doesn't cut it with today's players.
